I think the Twins should look at any Starters and Relievers to keep the Show going in the right direction. Now as for Montas the twins have been in every story written about him so if he is available then go get him. But the need Relief help as well.

I'm with the Kumar crew, his medicals aside 19 strike outs is impressive. Plus they could use a good strong arm in the Rotation or Bull pen.

There is zero reason to sell, even if you don't buy that this team is ready to win a WS.
There is NO ROOM for more prospects on the 40 man. It wouldn't be a trade of Correa for prospects A, B and C, it would be a trade of Correa AND Brent Headrick AND Alex Isola for prospects A, B and C. If you take back more prospects, the team is going to have to get rid of some, and unlike most years, they ones they'd have to get rid of look really, really good. They need to clear 40 man spots at the moment, not add to them.

The Twins currently stand at 38-30 (0.559) and are leading the division. However, some don't trust this Twins team as much as others. Some have said they do not want this team to go 'all in' at the deadline.
    Questions for Discussion:
    1. Should this team buy or sell at the deadline? If you have a side, how far to that side are you leaning and why?
    2. If you think this team should buy, what should they be looking for? (SP, RP, Offense, etc) or If you think this team should sell, who should they look to unload?
    3. What should the Twins' goal for the 2022 season be? Why?

Outside of a handful of Arizona Fall League games Lewis has played 12 innings total at 3B AND OF combined in the minors.
I hate seeing Royce go down, but he needs to play everyday.... and learning a new position on the fly in the majors is just asking for trouble. Correa needs to play everyday. Royce will be back.

Part of the master plan none of us are smart enough to understand. Like leaving Winder in the game until he gives the game away (not his fault, Rocco's).
Back to paying attention to this team and they are working real hard to drive me away again.

I can see Royce Lewis playing in the Outfield. or splitting time at SS, but either way unless he has a Major cool down they need to keep his bat in the lineup.

    Ryan Jeffers - 188/278/188  last year - 199/270/401
    Mitch Garver - 250/367/375 1 HR last year 256/358/517
    Gary Sanchez - 227/292/409 1HR 11 Ks in 22 ABs last year 204/307/423
Still trying to figure out the catcher plans.  Are we better?  Were we required to trade Garver to get Kiner-Falefa so we could get rid of Donaldson?
By the way Kiner Falefa is batting 174/208/261
Correa is batting 188/280/261  Come on Carlos!
    Chase Petty has one start - 7 innings, 1`.29 era, 6 K .0857 Whip
Sonny Gray - now hurt, I hope it does not last long. 2 starts, 4.2 innings 3.86 era whip 1.286
So far we are winning the Urshela over Donaldson except that Josh has two game winners and seems quite happy.

Gordon played out there quite a lot last year, and has been playing out there a lot this ST ... he isn't exactly without experience. And, he will be used as a backup outfielder this year. He's done an adequate job of it as a super utility guy.
    I hope he's okay.

Got to give it to Rooker. We have no room to breathe on the 40 man, and if we have a catcher go down we'll need to add another to the 40 man roster. Celestino is the right handed hitting 4th outfielder of the future. He is on the 40 man, and is just a short drive across town. Let go of the Garlick for heavens sake. He isn't irreplaceable or necessary, and we need to see what we've got in Rooker. This isn't that hard.

It appears that the Twins will go with 16 pitchers and there is a competition for the last position player between Brent Rooker and Kyle Garlick. With cuts coming from all of the other teams, I have been saying there should be someone who fills the bill better than Garlick or Rooker. IMHO, a good candidate came available today. Jake Marisnick was released by the Rangers. Marisnick is 31, has played on good teams (and with Carlos Correa) and is a good glove at all of the outfield positions. Marisnick is also a good base runner. If the price isn't too steep, I think he'd be an excellent fit for the Twins' needs.

C_frommn reacted to mikelink45 in Who goes when making room for prospects on the 26-man?
We talk about Miranda and Martin and Lewis as possible promotions.  Celestino is a possible fourth OF and we have Larnach ready to rise again, I hope.  But that means others must go.
I know there have been discussions about trading Arraez, Garver, Kepler and Sano, but if they do not go, who does?
It would seem that Rooker lacks the skills, other than power bat, so is he first cut?  Does he have some value for NL - DH or does every team have a Rooker?
Gordon has no position and might be redundant although he is the one player who could fill in at SS to give whoever our SS is a rest.  But is that enough value?
What is the pecking order?  Ranking the Twins batters on the forty man roster from top to bottom it would seem that we might have:
Buxton Polanco Kiriloff Miranda Jeffers Garver Donaldson Arraez Lewis Larnach Kepler Celestino Sano Rortvedt Gordon Rooker The rest are pitchers and somewhere we have to fit in a short stop.  What do you think?  I say the cuts would come from the bottom up.   For clarity - I am looking at the players who would be eliminated from the 40 when we sign a SS or any other player - position or pitcher.  Or as expected Martin makes his debut.

What I like about this plan is that bringing in 2-3 really top pitchers makes that team a real champion. And between the really good prospects nearly ready in the system and the increased attractiveness that such a lineup would present to FA pitchers, it might be a feasible route.

The Twins and their of sick bay.  It doesn’t matter if you waste money at a rate $1m times 25 = $25m or waste money at a rate of $5m times 5 = $25m or $25m times 1 = $25m all for the same set time. In the end it’s the production that counts.

This is awesome.   To me its the Hall of Great or Hall of very good for a very long time.   Oliva gets in for the great criteria and Kaat for the very good.    The shorter your career the better you have to have been.   3 batting titles should get you in regardless.    Oliva has also been one of the best ambassadors of baseball in history.    He should get two spots.   This kind of makes Mauer a shoe in as well now.

So happy. One of the most kind people to walk the planet. In 1967 he came with a rookie, Rod Carew, to our school and he was funny and said what an honor it was to be around school age kids. I met him when I sold beer at the Metrodome and he was even more impressive as he aged. My parents and many of their friends took in Cuba families fleeing Castro's regime and Tony Oliva was a legend among their community. If you never saw him play, it would be hard to explain what an amazing hitter he was for his too brief career. There were polls of pitchers in the 1960s and early 1970s (maybe there still are polls - I don't know) and Tony O was always amongst the top five most feared and respected hitters by pitchers in the American League. Congratulations to the only hero I ever had outside of family. Tony Oliva - member of the Baseball Hall of Fame sounds perfect.

I was Real Young when the twins came to Town until then not much exposure. But my mom and Grandma listen to the radio, then my brother-in-law took me to Twins games I sat on the third base side by myself while he and my cousins husband went to the Clubhouse or whatever they called the bar. But I got to watch Killebrew,Oliva,Bob Allison , Zoilo and others come out Pitch and Hit. it was exciting, I was also there for Rod Carew's first game. in the end I took his son to see the Twins just like he had me. and now the same son takes his 2 sons to the games. We used to see what give a ways they had and go on those Days but we went when they were going against a good team. at the time Kirby Pucket was young and catching everything in Center Field. We got to watch them in the World Series beat the Atlanta Braves, & the St. Louis Cardinals.
