That was our 2021 Minnesota Twins.  Ok Taylor, just give up a bomb and put us out of our misery.

Here we go again...not even sure why we suit up against this team.  Just give them the 6 wins and we won't have watch it happen again.

At least some credit for their increased confidence tonight should go to Rocco for deciding to tell the guys it's no longer okay to ask for autographs from the Yankees' star players.

Those two teams literally have nothing in common.  The 2006 team had a better top of the rotation, and don't even get me started on the bullpen differences.  Finally, there is no Mauer, Morneau, or Hunter on this roster(not even close).    What happened in 2006 happening again in 2021 is just not possible.  It's beyond wishful thinking.

The FO just botched free agents signings this offseason...Shoemaker, Colombe, Happ.   Just awful.  Robles has been decent.  Simmons, while he is still well above average defensively, he appears to be more of a complimentary player in my opinion.  Cruz is starting to show his age...his power numbers the last 6 weeks are way down.   The money spent on Simmons and Cruz, in hindsight, would have been best spent on pitching.  I really hope ALL of the FA dollars spent in this offseason is spent on pitching. 1 starter, 2-3 high quality relievers.  Let everything else come from trades or the farm system.  No more reclamation projects like Shoemaker or 38 old washed up meatballers like Happ.

Sano's career high for Hr's is 34, and that's the only season he has hit 30.   Donaldson is a good player, but hasn't hit .280 since 2016.  And he has only played more than 120 games once since 2016.  He is halfway between ages 35-36, so we'll see if he can stay healthy over an entire season.  Cruz might hit 30, but his power numbers so far are way down.  Either father time is catching up, he is hurt, or both.  The bullpen is statistically one of the worst in baseball, been better lately, but this is not the same bullpen as last year.   Garver started to hit, then got hurt.  Polanco has improved at 2nd.  Other than the first half of 2019, he has been an average offensive player.  We are 60 games into this season and that is no longer a small sample size.  On top of that, the injuries.  By the time everyone is healthy and playing..it will be most likely sometime in July.  Guys like Cruz & Simmons will be dangled to contenders.

Compare Sano's and Ortiz's progression.  Look at the numbers put up by Ortiz at age 26-27.  You can clearly see his improvement.  Compare that to Sano's production now and his lack of progression.  If I had to bet, I would not expect Sano to even sniff going forward what Ortiz did.

I would add Kepler to that list, but everyone else is fair game.  I'm afraid we are stuck with Sano for another year.
