He's still a rookie - hopefully we can get him coached up and that slider will become a real weapon.  If there is anything this pitching coach staff appears to know how to do - it is to maximize a slider's potential as a weapon.  I'm not concerned in the long term and hopeful he'll be in the top half of our rotation for at least a few years.

While series wins are nice, we need to see some sweeps against lesser foes like KC to help stay near the lead in the central.  Good series win by not giving up any runs after the first inning of game 1 of this set!

They were both signed to be placeholders for a year while our young talent recovered from injuries and was ready to go hopefully late this, or for next season.  With that said, you get what you pay for and these are good examples of that.  Not awful, but not very good either.  I would not bring either of them back for next year if we can avoid it.

I'd be ok if Carlos stays to be our SS for 1 more year while Lewis continues to heal.  Other than that I want pitching and would love to see Judge go to the NL for someone like the Mets just to drive Yankee fans crazy.

I am really impressed with Sandy Leon. As a catcher you see that he really know what he is doing. And the safety squeeze was perfect.

I really agree with you 100% - I just felt like I might get grief due to being so vocal about him being on our team any longer in the past.  It makes NO sense that he's still even an option for Rocco to use.

Kyle Garlick key contributor, not really.  the old adage of one game at a time.  Don't like to say it but can't win two in a row if you can't win the next (1st) one.  They need a strong 8-2, 9-1 week to get back into the mix.  When I look at the rotation, sadly I don't see that type of week with this staff.  Go Twins

Injuries, poor play, and let's face it Terry Francona vs Rocco. All other things being equal, who would you want running the the team?  I would say it's more like 80-20.

I mean it's provably false that Rocco has that hard and fast rule. 3 of Ryan's first 4 starts this very season he went 6 or 7 innings. He's been awful since his COVID IL stint and now he's being treated like the average to slightly below average starter he is right now. Sonny Gray went 6, 7, 6 innings before his first IL stint this year. Mahle has gone 6 innings in both of his starts with the Twins. Even when he gave up 3 bombs in his first start. No, Bundy, Archer, Smeltzer types aren't seeing the lineup a 3rd time in a close game. There have been a few times where I thought he should've let a guy go another inning, but it's most certainly not a hard and fast rule for every starter the Twins have. And, as I pointed out before, that 2019 rotation had the 6th most innings pitched in all of baseball. If his rule was strictly "no starter sees the order a 3rd time" they simply couldn't have had the 6th most starter innings in baseball.
I agree Pagan should've been DFA'd long ago, but, again, Rocco isn't to be blamed for using the guys on his roster. He simply can't go out there and never use Pagan. It's not reasonable. He needs to use every guy on his roster, so as long as Pagan is on there he's going to have to pitch some. If Duran and Lopez held the lead in Anaheim Pagan never even sees the field to give up that HR. So suggesting Rocco needed to be saved from using him after already having used his big guns who blew the lead seems like some revisionist history.

It seems that our best young players and prospects are SS, 3B, and OF.  See above free agents.  Do you see any catchers, first basemen, or pitchers?  Seems to me that those positions are what we should be looking for; any of those out there that look good?

I would actually think that there is a strong possibility every arm is available again. There may be a preference to try and not use Duran and Lopez, but in a pinch both could probably go. Everyone's work load was (and has been) about as minimal as you could hope for.

The option on Bundy should be declined.
I'm not opposed to bringing him back, but I'd rather decline the option and sign him back for $5, which is what his caliber of pitcher gets.
Depending on the health of Maeda and Dobnak going into the offseason, we may need a fringe veteran 5th starter that we can cut if he fails. I just prefer more upside than Bundy.

I think the article is spot on.  Keep Gray, let the other leave.  Sano is obvious at his salary, and how hard is it to get a replacement for a very average Bundy?

Don't use the recent footage of one of the hugest baseball rants/explosions ever as proof of his even keeled temperament. I does seem he is even tempered but wow, that explosion was worthy of Earl Weaver or Ralph Houk.

What’s he supposed to say? Personally, I don’t listen to his game recaps. I saw the game.
But I agree, the players are not doing their jobs.
