RedBull34 reacted to terrydactyls in Why Would the Twins Deal Carlos Correa?
"things are going so well"?  Offense is erratic at best.  Starters can't go more than six innings (and usually less than five).  The bullpen is best described as who is going to screw up the least tonight.  Your best player is probably leaving as soon as he can.  To me, that does not say that things are going well.  Yeah, the Twins are in first but look at their competition.  Chicago and Cleveland are both close and neither has been playing well.  The Twins may make the playoffs but how long will they last.  As for Correa, if the front office can't get any commitment from him this week, the Twins should send him to whoever wants him for the best return they are offered.  Something is always better than nothing in my opinion.

I love Cruz and any playoff team would love to have his bat.
I’d be more interested in Josh Bell though. Would allow Kirilloff to take left and Miranda to DH.

I really like a lot of these options, and with the Twins actually having the depth necessary to facilitate many of these trades I'm really looking forward to seeing who we can snag up.
I'm particularly interested in Josh Bell. I feel like he fits our mold perfectly and it gives us an opportunity to release Sano and get him off the roster. We need to move on at this point and I feel like Sano and Bell are the same player, Bell just does it more consistently.

While I agree this is/was a bad short-term trade, this is the type of trade teams like the Rays make all the time.  Trading good players with limited control, for other players with more.
Is there any indication the Twins would have extended Rogers?  If not, while it sucks for this year, it's the type of trade you make to extend your competitive window (even if it slightly closes it on the current year)

If you're going to refer to yourself as "today's Jackie Robinson," in any context, you're inviting mockery (and probably rightfully so.) I think this dust up is just giving those who already don't like Donaldson (I wouldn't count myself as a member of his fan club) another wave to ride. What's funny to me, is that TA is JD, in that he plays the game in a similar fashion, i.e. talking plenty of s*** and just being generally irritating from an opposing fan's perspective. I don't see any reason to draw a line and proclaim right or wrong when it comes to either of these two.

I don't know why everyone thinks this trade was so bad. Rogers had plenty of questions coming into this year as well.  Is it as good as before Paddock was injured, No.  Would it have been a good thing to have Rogers in the bullpen for this year, yes.  Let's face it, Rogers was not going to be on the Roster after this year.  This was a trade made with a longer term plan.  The only thing I didn't understand is why the Twins agreed to basically pay for Rogers salary this season, but that is also the cost of getting a starting arm with upside in the MLB.  This trade truly can't be judged until we see what Paddack can do after the surgery.  Sure, if he misses most of next year as well, it will not look near as good but it could also look a whole lot better as we look back on it.

Arraez's defensive numbers in LF are about the same and his bat is definitely better.  I'd be in no hustle to sign Upton.

100% agree. I want a  path to more Arraez at-bats. I've no illusions that he'll start being a good fielder out there, but in my opinion he can Josh Willingham left field as long as he keeps delivering the toughest outs in the lineup, and as long as his knees keep functioning.

Other then that he doesn't play catcher, he's basically a much better hitting Astudillo.  Bat plays, but the D is sketchy.
If he was taller, I'd really like to see him at 1B a lot more.
I don't know how you sit him against RHP, he's too damn good against them.
