I wouldn't fault either decision, but the start will go to Santana.
The argument for Gibson is that the Yankees have never seen the new, improved Gibson, while they faced Santana recently. Not a terrible argument, either.
If I were to put money on it I'd guess Santana.

I looked through the article and found that I didn't make a prediction. And it's a little late now. I think I was optomistically thinking upper 70s but I'm old and can't remember that far back.

Maybe on Gonsalves or Jorge, but Felix has really struggled ever since being sent down from the Twins. Romero is on an innings limit, so I think there is more of a chance he is up in the BP for the Twins than there is of him moving up to Rochester...

Rochester has a decent record but they are not loaded with prospects. With only about 5 weeks left in the minor league season, I think it's time to start moving players up to the level we want them to start at next year. Give them some adjustment time and get players ready for the next step.

Your first 3 and Garver are on my No list, but it's much bigger than that. No to Palacios, Blankenhorn, Rortvedt, Thorpe, etc.

Palka or Sleegers though are guys I would be fine parting with, especially for a 2 month rental of what is at best an average pitcher.

I feel like the Twins would want to at least see Garver play a few games and to make sure he's not completely overwhelmed before they did something with Gimenez.

I don't see much of a downside to DFA'ing Gimenez either. Obviously there's the wrinkle that both Falvey and Levine have had him on team previously and respect him quite a bit. He's been a clear downgrade from Castro defensively though, and while he seems like a great guy, that's a place you can make your roster better.

I am all for this but I am confused about why we keep Gimenez who's current line is .200/.325/.375.  You hear talk about getting Garver up and fitting him in w/o getting rid of Gimenez.  Folks might say veteran leadership and maybe there is something to that but it's not quantifiable.  What I am missing?  Bring up Garver and DFA Gimenez.  Garver's stats may suffer a bit because he will be facing MLB pitching but they would likely stay far above those of Gimenez.  And, you will have a guy who is 26 and the immediate future of the back-up catcher role vs a guy who will be gone next year.  Many have addressed this but I still feel like it deserves more attention.

What would stop the FO from making this move?

I'd love to see Garver this year, but I also think we continue to develop Vargas.  I know you're not suggesting we cut bait on Vargas, but consider this... his defense is, according to UZR, above average.  It's a small sample size, but he has an UZR of 1 this year.  He's probably something approximating average.  Agree the Ks are just too much.  He has a big problem there which he may never overcome, but his D isn't hurting him.

Completely agree. Garver reportedly is about the same level defensively as either of the team's current starting catchers, and his bat might be a significant improvement over either. He's also adequate in LF and 1B.

I believe, and have said, the same.
The Twins FO knows they have the defense and offense to support a good starting rotation into the playoffs with a chance to actually do something in the playoffs.
One trade (off-season, probably) and one FA signing.
If they both pan out then we have a chance to win the division and go deep into the playoffs.
Of course we have to figure out who belongs in the bullpen, but we really are that close.

I think, and this is just me guessing, it's that hitting it hard on the ground is preferred to, say, hitting popups. Buxton has the second-highest popup rate among 165 qualified big-league hitters at 21.1 percent (Odor, 21.2 percent). Basically, the goal is honing in on the best launch angle, which isn't necessarily on the ground, but certainly not straight up.

Escobar is NOT below average defensive shortstop, he is rather good defensively at this position. If Polanco cannot hit, Escobar would be an excellent candidate to replace Dozier if he's traded. I would like to see Escobar play everyday for the Twins.
Escobar could also be in Twins long term plans, why not? He is also a team player and well-liked in the club house. He could provide leadership like Dozier.

Escobar and Dozier are two of my favorite current Twins, but it makes sense to shop both, along with Grossman. There are replacements ready (or nearly so) in the minors in Engelb Vielma, Nick Gordon and Zach Granite respectively. All three of those guys might be in the Twins' long-term plans, where it's highly unlikely any of the three current Twins (Esco, Dozier & Grossman) will be.

Man, I'd hate to see Escobar go. I know that "good clubhouse guy" isn't backed up with any stats, but Edwardo is the poster boy for guys you'd want on your squad.
