I would submit the front office as another X factor.  They have just six days to make this team an actual contender.

I think #1 DFA Sano is most likely and #4 shock the lineup with a bat is least likely.
They need in the following order...
Relief pitching, starting pitching, and then can look to a bat in the lineup.

Keep him for the stretch run, offer him a 5-6 year contract with 30+ AAV at the end of the year.  No 10-year offer.  Think Parise and Suter and look at the cap hell that the Wild is going through now.  If he takes that offer great, if not then we go to Lewis next year after a fill-in at the beginning of the year.
DO NOT trade him.  For one the opt outs would exist for any team that trades for him so they would not offer much.  Second, it sends a terrible signal to the clubhouse and to us fans.  It also limits who would come here as a FA in the future.  This should not be an option.

I'd pass on Thor.  We have enough #4's and #5's in the rotation.  No need for another one who is expensive and short-term.  Go for Months or Castillo but only if you plan on signing them long-term.

Honestly, as absurd as it is to suggest that a 1st place team should be in seller mode, I feel like it is a path that should strongly be considered.

The worst way to go is to make a half-hearted attempt to win this year, like acquiring David Robertson and nobody else. And the more I look at it, the more I feel like that is the biggest possibility. We don't have the ammo or the willingness to pay for guys like Castillo and Montas, and given that we likely have to go through both the Astros and Yankees to even make the World Series, our chances of winning it all are slim to none as it stands. Even though it would hurt to sell Correa, we might get a haul for him that could help us next year.

The Twins lineup picks this year seem to mostly be contact hitters that know the strike zone.  Is the FO finally starting to get sick of all the strikeouts?  Maybe they are assuming that the dead ball era continues well into the future and they need to play more small ball instead of waiting for a walk and a bop?

They might be seeing it that way, but in 2019 they drafted contact hitters (along with a few power hitters too) and those contact guys are developing power. Quite a bit in some cases.
But I don't know that they're sick of all the strikeouts. The Twins are 11th in the league in strikeout percentage, so they're above average in that regard.

I guess we could have taken a high school (younger) player and hoped he turned out to be as good a hitter as Brooks Lee is at 21.  No kidding ... A college player is older than a high school player.  What's really ironic is those who don't value prospects will complain about a college prospect being older and more developed than a high school player.  Sometimes I think people search really hard for something to complain about.
