We could do much worse than Cave as a 4-5 outfielder. He seems to get a ton of hate from the fan base but considering our injury issues since he has been here, he is filled in often and has had some clutch moments at the plate, considering his power, if the Twins don’t tender him he will get a contract somewhere as a 4th OF type.

Gordon hasn't looked comfortable at shortstop. Honestly, I don't think he's looked that good at either second or short, although second base is a far less demanding position. It's all SSS, so I think the eye test and the lack of time in those positions when the season was on the line tell me that Nick's "D" isn't well-regarded.
Palacios has played sporadically since being recalled when Polanco went on the IL, but he's 0-33. He had a nice year at St. Paul, but his total lack of hitting really makes counting on him a huge gamble. I actually wonder if the Twins will keep him on the 40-man.

Always love a win. I'm 100% behind Arraez winning the batting title. I don't care if anyone would hate him for begrudging Judge of it.

I had a thought during the game. If Correa does leave after this year, the Twins would likely be looking for a stopgap until Lewis is healthy. A common name that has been brought up is Palacios. I haven't heard anyone mention Nick Gordon. In his rookie year, he posted slightly above average defensive marks at SS, while this year he has been slightly below average, although he has only played there for about 75 innings each year. Obviously you probably won't want Gordon to be your long term solution at SS, but it could help with a roster crunch and be a solution to getting him everyday AB's.

I guess we should just assume that anyone who is injured will never be healthy and successful ever again?

It once was impossible to get a ticket to a Saints game. What has changed since they joined the Twins organization?
Comfortable, wonderful park. Excellent to walk the concourse. Decent food at affordable prices. Plus, you get to see the occasional top-flight prospect!

Thank you for the outstanding coverage of our minor league teams throughout the season. I enjoyed reading your summaries every morning. Well done and much appreciated.

For me, it is always a sad day when the minor league season ends.  I enjoy following prospects and the minor leagues as much as I enjoy following the Twins.  I can't wait for revised prospect lists, the AFL, 40 man roster decisions, the off season handbook, etc.  The hot stove league is about to begin.

Thanks for the reports. I watched too much milb.com this year; loved it.
It is interesting to watch the games and see what they look like compared to their peers and what might be expected from any player at the next level.

Dobnak being out for such a long time, it's good to see him have a good outing. I imagine he has ditched his new slider.
I'm also excited to hear about our prospects in the AFL.

Great seeing Balazovic with a solid start, very solid.  Also continue shaking my head at what Shuffield is doing.  Is he for real?
And what a great night in Wichita from the middle infielders.  Martin was 1-3 with 3 walks, Julien 2-5 with a walk and Lee was 3-4 with a walk.  Toss Lewis into that group and the Twins have four very interesting middle infielders.  Hopefully, more than two force them to look for other spots to get them into future Twins' lineups.

Didn't we have a writer here wanting to kick Ober to the pen?

Not to put a downer on your wishes, but I think that was the idea this year, but then a few of those pitchers were derailed by injuries and poor performances. But I do agree with you that the 5 should be a strong starting core with Varland or Winder as our long-relief guy. Paddack I think will take that spot later next year, but its tough to say how his rehab might go.

Couldn't be happier for this young man.  What a great outing and the Sox did have most of their big hitters in their lineup.
Gray, Mahle, Ryan, Maeda and Ober could be a very good starting 5 next spring.  Add Paddack for a late summer replacement along with Winder and Varland, SWR and maybe Balazovic and I don't see the Twins needing to bring in any big names this winter.

With Ober going 7+ innings was Rocco in the dugout? I guess the idea of Ober to the pen next year has changed.

It was a great outing in a meaningless exhibition game where both sides were just playing it out.
Obviously, we need to see this sustained during real in-year competition to get the hype train rolling again...
BUT it is still a lot better to seem him do this than to get knocked around!

Kinda nice to come to the box score late in the game and find this kind of pitching gem in progress.
Get the RISP numbers a little higher on offense and this could have been a laugher.

Away from TD site for awhile as Twins play has been more than depressing.  Can't say I watched tonight, but after seeing the impressive performance by Ober my mind wandered off into"what could have been mode.  So many problems with this team to fix before next year, but at least for tonight---a good feeling, especially beating the Sox.  Sure would be nice to see Winder complement Ober's performance with a strong outing tomorrow night.
