cHawk got a reaction from chpettit19 in Twins have yet to field a starting roster in ST
Show me one example of a team fielding all of their starters in a single spring training game. You'll have a difficult time finding it.

cHawk reacted to rv78 in Twins have yet to field a starting roster in ST
This team is comprised of icicles. If anyone thinks the regular season will be all hands on deck every day they are fools. They can't even field the regulars for 1 game in spring training due to injuries not completely healed from last year yet or from just being overly cautious. Wasn't the excuse for poor play at the start of the season last year due to a shortened spring training and yet here we are a year later and the regulars aren't playing every day getting primed for the regular season. When they start to fall like dominoes due to injuries again, the FO will have no one to blame but themselves for bringing in and sticking with injury prone players due to the cheaper cost of rostering players like them. When June or July rolls around and half the roster is on the IL they'll only have themselves to blame.

Byron Buxton Home Run Total - 27.5
Couldn't agree more with Ted that Buxton's availability throughout the season will determine whether or not he eclipses this mark. As stated in the article, Buxton (barely) surpassed 27.5 long balls in only 92 games in 2022. Logic would indicate that he should accomplish this again, provided he plays at least the same number of games; however, this is no certainty. Through the span of his 8-year career, he has played in approximately 49% of his team's games. Over the course of a 162 game season, that's approximately 79 games.
There's no obvious trend in the graph above, so it's most reasonable to take and predict the average (49%, i.e. 79 games in 2023). cHawk's pick: Under
Carlos Correa Batting Average - .280
Through the course of his career, Correa has a career .279 batting average. He has only eclipsed the .280 mark twice in 8 years. Based on these statistics, concur with Ted; it's clearly more logical to predict that he will not clear the mark of .280. cHawk's pick: Under
Joe Ryan Wins - 10.5
In Ryan's 27 starts last season, he successfully completed five innings in 19 of them (70% of the time). In the previously described instances, he amassed 13 wins; in summary, he recorded a win in 48% of his starts. This appears to be his floor in 2023. So long as Ryan amasses a minimum of approximately 25 starts, he will eclipse the mark. cHawk's pick: Over
Pablo Lopez Wins - 10.5
Lopez, unlike Ryan, has never amassed 11 wins in a season. In 2022, he successfully completed five innings in 25 of his 32 starts. It may surprise some that in those 25 starts, he totaled 10 non-decisions alongside 10 wins; i.e. he had a non-decision in 31% of his starts. This could very possibly be a product of Miami's less-than-stellar lineup, which totaled the sixth lowest wRC+ of any team in the league. The lineup which Lopez will be equipped with in 2023 should be much better than that Marlin's lineup, therefore Lopez's win total should increase from 2022, where he amassed 10 wins. cHawk's pick: Over

when your username is "I wish the Twins Were Good", it's really hard to take your posts as remotely objective. - FWIW I agree w/ Dan Hayes entirely. Pitchers work on specific pitches in spring training, he could have thrown the same exact pitch 20 times in a row.

“Will this be the year Byron Buxton shakes off his perpetual injury woes and puts forth something approximating a full season?”
no.

He doesn’t have any of the charisma Brett Favre had. I could see Rodgers dividing a locker room. That’s why he wants to get some of his boys like Lazard, Cobb, and Mercedes Lewis in the building.

Additionally, the Jets signed Allen Lazard. Maybe they’ll get Randall Cobb too. Between those two and Garrett Wilson, who do you suppose will get the fewest targets? Knowing Rodgers, the answer will probably be Wilson, the best receiver of the three by far.

Agreed. They certainly would be better, but the distractions Rodgers brings with him could lead to a worse W/L record. GB has had practice managing him for a decade and a half. There's a good chance the Jets, and the substantially larger market they play in, won't have the knack for dealing with nor patience and forgiveness for his behavior.

I can’t speak as to whether or not the Jets will be better with Rodgers. He’s obviously a better player than Zach Wilson, but…

Me too, but I want to put on my tinfoil conspiracy hat for a second.
IF Rodgers "retires" and IF the Vikings trade Cousins (both unlikely) I'll predict that Rodgers will unretire in July, forcing the Packers to cut him and his salary, then Rodgers signs with the Vikings for one season.
Not that I want that, but it would be the biggest D move he could pull and he seems to love to pull D moves.

Yeah, the franchise has had some all time great players, but he's probably still the face of the organization.

The problem with these projections is that they (and the rest of us) need to try to factor in if the player will remain "healthy" the entire year. If PECOTA "knew" that Buxton would be playing 150 games this year, his HR total WOULD be higher. "Hope for the best....plan for the worst."

Big day for the Lions, because I already had Jameson Williams scoring 4 TDs against the Vikings every game he plays against them from here out.

I don't think the NY market would let this happen. Giants fans would mock Jets fans for trading for the QB who checked down on 4th and 8.

Someone should invent a Dickhead Scanner. Put one at every gate to keep out the riff-raff. Maybe give them an electric shock as we send them on their way.
I applaud your group for standing up to the a$$holes.
