Personally, I wouldn't risk breaking Polanco.  I think the loss of performance at SS for him was even worse than the loss for Arraez in LF.

Nice to see some clarity here. No doubt Dobnak would've appreciated that last year. This would be Thorpe's only chance to make it and last chance. I had already given up on him but let's see what happens. I like his quotes especially if you read them with an Aussie accent. Jax could blossom in this role, I wanna see what his fastball looks like now.

To expand on my earlier post.....I've always believed Jax has a good shot as a RP, and have wanted them to make this move for some time. I am happy for him, as I think this is a legit path to a good MLB career.
I have no idea if Thorpe can pull this off, given his injury history....but I wish him luck.

Yankees fans are pretty happy to be rid of Sanchez, that's definitely a problem.  He was a league average catcher offensively last year but he has pedigree.  Maybe the New York thing was weighing on him.
Urshela, on the other hand, reads like the Eduardo Escobar of that team.  A glue guy with a of grit and personality.  Yankees fans are not happy to see him go and are not happy with Cashman for how he treated the exit.  (Google "yankees fans urshela", the reads are interesting if nothing else!)

It appears this FO likes guys that can hit .199 or less and 30 HR's while ignoring their lack of defensive capabilities. They have taken what was probably the best catching situation of most teams in all of baseball and made it a question mark. 

Good insight.  As bad as last year was, I appreciated that Arraez was willing to try for what the team leadership thought was best in the circumstance..  I'm glad they have rethought it, though.  I think it will help his bat to play his more natural positions.

I agree, at least in formal statistics.  I think his horrendous performance the first two months of the season, and Baldelli's insistence in keeping him in the closer, demoralized the team and resulted in lesser play for most of the season.  Once Colome was removed as closer, the team performed better and had a better record.

Good grief. If the Twins would've kept him, as soon as Donaldson pulled a calf muscle this year everyone would be sitting here complaining that the Twins didn't get rid of him when they could have.

In fairness, I'm pretty sure that entitled Yankees fans call for Cashman to be fired any time he does anything or doesn't do something.  I mean, if they won the WS this year, they would call for him to be fired because they didn't sweep it.

I think that Mr. and Mrs. Buxton want to live in Minnesota and raise their children there.  Understanding that is the key to understanding his contract.
