I think Gallo will spend the rest of the regular season on the IL.

As if the team wouldn't play him out there if they thought it was a good idea....

It’s just another avenue to get more potential eyes on the Twins. More options is a good thing.

I just wish the shady-ass media company (Sinclair? Think was those scumbags) that bought up all the regional Fox Sports Networks and rebranded them into Bally's and spun them off into this Diamond Sports Group could be held to account for this. They vastly overpaid for the networks and everyone knew it at the time. Now, saddled with all of that debt, they're trying to get out of paying their bills.
It's pretty pathetic that they're also trying to get MLB to hand them streaming rights in exchange for fulfilling their contractual obligations. they've been broadcasting the games, collecting the ad revenues, and not paying the rights and think they're entitled to extort baseball for additional assets to add to their bankruptcy pile?
Twins may face a similar fate this season, but it's my understanding that their rights fees aren't as out of whack with the revenue generation that they had with SD. So that one might still get paid, at least until all of the other debt calls wipe out the rest of this fraudulent company's cash.

The blackout rules are ancient and are really not good for baseball.
My cable comfortableness aside... For the good of the game, I'm hoping with this Diamond debacle that baseball is able to get into something makes it possible to be everywhere that everybody is.
We should be able to watch a baseball game on any device anywhere... for the good of the game.
Of course... I don't know how to work any of that stuff... so I think I'm being quite generous in my hopes for the future. 😄

Because if you already have YouTube TV, that $20/month extra for a Twins app is an additional $20/month.  The $73/month for YouTube is irrelevant since you're already paying that anyway.  It'd be whatever it cost you to add a "Twins package" to YouTube that would be the difference.  Assuming the package on YT is less than $20/month, it's cheaper to go that route.

I just hope that we ALL have some kind of reasonable option to watch the games...whatever that might be. I guess we should find out something soon.

Does anybody know the status of the BSN contracts with the Wild and Timberwolves?  That would have to play into this in terms of making their own network work.

Richmond Dude got a reaction from Hunter48 in 3 Reasons Target Field Attendance Continues to Be Sparse
Regarding the crime issue and the impact on attendance.  I don't live in Minnesota anymore and I miss having the ability to go to the games, but as a result, I have no idea whether crime is actually up in the city and even what kind of crime may be occurring.  But I have a lot of experience with understanding crime and how people respond to it and can tell you that there are actually two different things here.
There is crime and then there is the media coverage of crime.  The second plays a much greater role in how people view an area and it lasts years.  For instance, when the LRT discussion came up, I imagine that people remember how there were a bunch of Strib stories about robberies and assaults on the trains, usually during the overnight.  But those stories were pre-Covid, if I remember.  But they stick.  It is irrelevant to attendance whether people are safe, what counts is whether they feel safe.
Regardless, Go Twins!  Wish I could be there with you in person.

Couldn't agree more. I would love to see 5 or 6 high obp hitters sprinkled with 3 or 4 power bats who WILL put the ball in play vs a 30 to 40 homer guy that strikes out 200 times

The Twins once fielded a squad with five Hall of Famers on it.  The fielders were Killebrew, Oliva, and Carew, who were three very different types of hitters.  Carew scored 50% more runs than he batted in, It's because he was constantly on base when people like Killebrew and Oliva drove him in.  Takes all types to put together a good team.

The Twins need to move away from the bomba squad mentality and take good hitting players and let them be good hitting players instead of trying to make every one of them Sano type strikeout/homerun machines. Maybe thse young players would make it to the majors a lot faster if the Twins wouldn't try to make them into something they aren't. Larnach is a great example. Last year he was trying to pull everything to right-field and into the seats. Who's idea was that? This year he is spraying the ball all over and hitting .300 and helping the team win. Let Martin be a hitter, not a homer,

Great write-up, solid reasoning.  I do think KC deserved a mention, they're improved from last season and did take a series from us as the winning streak began.

Sums it well. Good piece Nash, and agree there are reasons for optimism. SP is key, and keeping Buck healthy, two fragile propositions. But if it holds for, Twins could Win. A lot. And that is a fun thing to think about on this dreary autumnal afternoon.

It was only two games, but 7 and 8, vs 5 and 10 is huge. We’ve seen this team end it’s season in April before (many times in my lifetime).
im excited too, I am still worried about the starting pitchers running out of gas in August, but the hitters should come back to life (getting a glimpse of that yesterday helped my optimism in that regard)

Oddly enough, for all the gnashing of teeth last week, we are half a game out of first place and one game out of the wild card race,  Long season.  Looking forward to watching it.

As a devoted Pat Neshek lover, I’d have to say Neshek really isn’t a good example. You mention that relievers “burn bright and die out quickly,” but Neshek had 9 seasons after leaving the Twins with a sub-4.00 ERA and 6 of those with a sub-3.00 ERA. It doesn’t look like his opponents ever really adjusted to him — he just dealt with injuries his last few years here that made him ineffective in a very small sample.

Interesting point about tradition and the nature of the buttons on the front of the shirt.  If you look back on the 70s and early 80s, the uniforms absolutely lost a lot of tradition.  Most teams wore pullovers, looked awful.  The White Sox tried out shorts at one point.  There was a real snapback to tradition in the mid-to-late 80s.  So if you don't care for the patches, there is hope.

MLB has been reducing the time between innings as part of the pace of play issue, so maybe there?  Great point about the nature of soccer stoppages.
