And on a positive note; Miranda 2 for 4 .278 average   .793 OPS
2nd best hitter on the team and not rattled by the "big" moments
That's the kind of player that doesn't collapse in play-off games.
    If we get there.

No.   Tons of teams have gotten hot and surprised people in October.    Besides which if they get into the playoffs they will by default have achieved my minimum goal for an enjoyable season which is to be playing meaningful games through September.

Because I am a diehard twins fan , I stayed up and listened to the game  on radio  ....
But my dog kirby  left the room  as the chances of winning slipped away , he's a fair weather fan ...

Yesterday the complaining was about complainers after a win.  Today the complaining is about complainers after a loss.  Where is the manager of this establishment?  I wish to lodge a complaint concerning this inconsistency.

Pagan was warming up. Did we really want him to come in and give up 3 base runners and then Lopez to give up one mistake pitch for a homer? Imagine the comments then. Take the wins when we can get them and be happy.

The mere fact that he stunningly signed with the Twins at all, indicates that nothing's out of the question.  I'd be thrilled with a second year.
As a poster mentioned earlier, speculation will have more relevance at the end of the season.

I didn't say they would ... I said they could ... let's not turn this thread into a payroll discussion because that's not at all where it needs to go. And yes, along with pie, I want my cake and to eat it, too!

I see an awful lot of expectations that Lewis is pretty much a sure thing to come back, and just as strong or stronger than before.  I am lost as to the confidence; not the hope, but the confidence.  At 23 he has blown out his knee (big time) twice, and there is never a guarantee someone will be the same after that, especially at the SS position.  Look at Buck, for example.  Fragile would be a kind description of his career and, at 28, has what even the team acknowledges as "chronic" knee issues which keep him playing part time, at least for the near future.  What is it about Lewis that makes everyone so confident this will change in his career?  We have to plan on him not being the long term SS of the future, and if he is, God bless him.  Great.  But don't plan on it, especially if you can get a player of Correa's caliber.  A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush, as my grandpa was fond of reminding me (the bush being the minor leagues today, no matter how promising one or 2 may look).  Do what you can to keep Carlos.

The Twins don’t have the option to opt out, only Correa does. But even if the Twins had that option, no, they shouldn’t. Correa is well above average. You obviously haven’t watched him play. Yes, his offense is down this year and I hope that picks up for the remainder of the season, for however long that is. But Correa is far above an average SS. And we’d be lucky to have him for longer, imo.

Way to go, Nick Gordon. Taking it to another level! Loved the breast stroke at home plate in the bottom of the tenth.
Kudo's to the Twins for having to go with a lineup not remotely resembling the "A" team, and finding a way to win.👍

When other teams win vs the Twins in a manner of last night's game they are referred to as "opportunistic" or "savvy". When the Twins benefit from a poor play by the opponent they are characterized on this site as "lucky" "fundamentally weak" or a "mirage".
To each his own is an apt phrase for Twins fans. I am enjoying. this Twins team, a pennant race and the possibilities that postseason games present.

If Boras doesn't see a mega-contract out there for Correa, Carlos may well opt in and bet on himself to get that mega-deal after a more successful 2023. The irony is that the worse Correa performs for the balance of the season, the more likely he is to stay with the Twins for the coming season.
I really would like him to stay and for the Twins to go for it again in 2023. The pieces should be there.
