You're right. Everyone on this site fancies themselves MLB managers more than fans. They are like fantasy football players. Fans of the process.....not the game. They "want" a Berrios trade...to see if they called it correctly.

    Go Yankees...........ūüėČ

The Twins have 4 bad months of baseball following 2 Division Championships  and 3 playoff appearances in the last 55 months.................and they see the need to sell off important pieces. I don't want these guys handling my investment portfolio. It's not just our guys of course. Baseball is broken in so many ways.

But what this sell off does.......it now gives them a chance to play front office managers of a MLB team. Good for them. Have fun fellas. No expectations of winning right away [they are building a winner.....ya, right]. There farm hand managers and coaches get top develop exciting talent -- to the point where they are so good, they are too expensive to keep.

    Go Yankees......

i may be the only guy that wants no trading of Berrios or Pineda..with Pineda Maeda and Berrios Twins would have a good nucleus for next year..no true Ace but solid 2,3,4....(no one they get in trades will be better than them in the near future). Ober can be a good 5...but what Twins need most of all is an ACE. and oh,,,,,5 good relievers ..there is absolutely no one in that pen that can be trusted.

The Twins are like a bad girlfriend always looking for an excuse to bolt [in this case the Twins looking for any excuse to go cheap].

Offer Buxton 100 million that include incentives [7 years??] and give Berrios Yankee top of the rotation money [because they will]. If the Twins don't...they need to go away and we can turn Target Field into a downtown jail for street thugs.

Had enough of MLB. Fix the damn salary cap and quit giving these small-market owners excuses to go cheap. Between the All Star game escaping "voter suppression" in Atlanta to the Yankees and Red Sox getting their way on everything....had it.

I have been critical of Sano for years.  However, he can't watch Simmons while moving to first base and finding the bag.  Simmons made a mistake going to second and Sano is not to blame for expecting the throw was coming from Simmons.

Your contention is that Sano didn't know the throw was coming from Polanco? And couldn't have been expected to??

    Uh...do not concur.

Ok. My point was simply to laud Jose Berrios and hope that he continues on as a Twin and if he is traded that the Twins collect a haul. The San Diego example was merely obvious speculation.
I'm am a supporter of the Twins and their management. The Santana trade was just an example and one would have to acknowledge that that was a difficult situation. Another time, different management but Falvine are relatively new and I'm hoping they do not feel pushed into a tough position. One notable is that the Santana trade was under different ownership (Carl then, sons now). Either way, let's hope Jose Berrios is a lifelong Twin.

Berrios has been really good as a Twin, There was only one Santana and we all know how that trade worked.
I'm understanding if the Twins feel that a push package of C.J. Abrams, Ryan Weathers or M. Gore, and Robert Hassell from San Diego make the Twins better able to compete in the future.
The Twins do not need to accumulate a team of utility players and backend pitchers. I am ready to enjoy Berrios for the duration of his time with the team and take a pick if he leaves. Hopefully Jose signs here.

Nothing confusing about it.....and they know the frustration will go away the following Spring. What you just wrote....is what the Twins management knows [and hopes] all Twins fans will say.....in perpetuity!! They blamed the Dome for not affording Tori Hunter and Johann Santana. Signing Mauer was more about marketing than anything.

Baseball needs a salary cap to keep these team owners from using "small market" as an excuse to not put the best team on the field. taxpayers paid for half the billion dollar stadium, 40,000 fans will show up every game for the right team, TV covers fans in a 5 state area. We have a guy who hates sports and loves to make movies as an owner.

I love Morneau......you people may think he drones on and doesn't know when to shut up. But he said [in so many words]...the Twins are having a year that is an aberration and is a tweak or two away from contending for the AL Central [admittedly, not a lofty goal...but hey]. Bert would have never said that and instead circled someone, wished someone a happy birthday, and then gone back to sleep [until the next opportunity came around to embarrass Dick Bremer on the air]. Morneau is smart and interesting......and in this case....I believe correct. he suggested concentrating on starting pitching [hardest to come by]. Bullpen help is inconsistent and seemingly is always available...next attack this......and keep the everyday players.

This article is correct as well. It is not the dynamic duo that is to blame. They agree with Moreau. The Pohlads are caring on the legacy of cheapness that Calvin Griffith started. That is who is to blame....as always.

With a solid pitching staff......this team would be up there with the White Sox. That has been illustrated enough on this site...so I'll skip that.
So....it is being suggested they need to trade Berrios, Buxton, and Rogers because the pitching wasn't upgraded properly??? WTF??? Sounds like an excuse to go cheap [yet again].....and call it a rebuild.

"A ghost from Kenta Maeda’s last start came back to haunt him, as he failed to retire the leadoff hitter, issuing a walk."
A walk that was a missed called strike three. A perfect pitch. One that the batter can't make himself swing at, and was right on the bottom corner of the zone. That would have been 3 outs before the hit, HBP, and the triple. That would have changed quite a bit.

Based on our offensive numbers against the rest of the league, we should keep the band together.
Twins rank in the top 10 in BA, OPS, and HR, top 15 in nearly every other offensive category - 21st in SO though, which surprised me. The team has hit very well considering all the young guys we've had to play due to injuries and other circumstances.
This season is once again a result not investing into quality pitching. We try too hard to fill our rotation and BP with bounce-back candidates or possible diamonds in the rough.
My thought is to work hard to extend Berrios and Buxton. We won't get enough in return (IMO) to make it worthwhile. Invest heavily into quality FA arms in the off-season. Overpay if we have to, it's just money (easy for me to say). We are a much better team than our record reflects at the moment. I see no reason to sell now. If we're in the same position one year from now, become sellers then.

"Lockdown Arm"? Huh? Who evaluated that term- Falvey? Even Taylors outs are hard hit.
Dynamic Duo needs to stop with the "Hope we can get Pitchers off the scrap heap" routine and get an Authentic Pitcher to help Berrios! They act like Vikes saving money on the O-Line! Results prove being stingy won't get you to or deep into playoffs. But since Club is profitable winning comes 2nd.

Nelson Cruz would be the most deserving to represent the team, as long as he’s not traded in the next 13 days! It’s always easy to sneak in a reliever when there’s only 1 selection for the team, so I’ll say Rogers could be the one too.
