SoDakTwinsFan4 reacted to GKuehl in Trevor Larnach is Hurting the Ball
While I agree with the general sentiment that Larnach has looked a lot better at the plate so far, this feels a bit TOO positive about a hitter with a .176 batting average and a .446 OPS (in an admittedly small sample) so far. He had that ball he smashed to center a few games ago that Kike Hernandez "dropped" that should have been credited as a double, which would make his numbers look more palatable considering how small the sample is. While his underlying numbers (exit velo, barrels, etc.) show better things are seemingly on the way, I'm a bit hesitant about proclaiming that Larnach is back and here to stay.
P.S. I really like Larnach and think he'll be a really good major league hitter for a long time.

Sorry, no. I'm reported to be highly intelligent and wise and talented and filled with general knowledge regarding basic physiology as well as sociological and psychological insight,  but those reports come from myself and people who like me. LOL! I also hold a Masters in BS from a long line of family members who have similar degrees.
I also like to poke fun at myself.
"Doc" is a nickname I earned from a teacher many, many years ago because I was a budding young writer.
But I would like to defy hubris and state that I think I am actually kinda smart. [Wink]
    Thanks for asking!

Repeat what I said in the post-game thread, I think his "ground pound" was as much frustration as pain. He walked off with nothing resembling a limp from what I saw. I think/hope it was just a tweak and he'll be fine.

Byron's MRIs should be in the Hall of Fame, even (especially) if he doesn't make it.

Here's what I saw in the 8th inning. Arraez ole'd another ball at 3rd that was very playable. Kyle Garlick looked like a slow pitch softball right fielder on Devers 312 foot pop fly. Should have been out of the inning.

Did Duran give up the runs, or was it our shaky defense?  Take out Buxton and Urshela and that defense is just not going to get it done.  Garlick is not a good fielder, Arraez could leave his glove in his locker.  So glad that we won and our Bipolar fandom was treated to Sano's HR, but missing Buxton in the field is much more serious than missing his bat.

Fun stretch of games.  Too bad they screwed the pooch long ago making it meaningless.  Not sure I'm happy to see what might have been, but winning baseball is definitely more fun regardless.

Some thoughts on this most interesting time for Twins Fans:
I like Berrios and/or Rogers to the Dodgers.  They need both of them, and they have good pitching talent to trade.  Any discussion would have to start with Gray, who just made his MLB debut.
I like Pineda and/or Simmons to the Mets.  They don't want commitments for next year, but need SS help with Lindor's injury and starting pitching from Big Mike.  Make them pay, quality over quantity please.
Robles and/or Happ should be able to fetch a lottery ticket from someone.  Colome, not so much.
I would retain Donaldson unless someone gives a great offer, and the same for Buxton.  Don't want to trade at low value from Buxton, and STILL want to try and sign him to some type of creative contract this off-season.
    Simple!  :)

Sadly looking at the updated prospect list at least from the sportingnews, none of the contenders have the top 5- 10 overall prospect that I would require for Berrios. If I am giving Berrios and his 1 1/2 of control and the option to negotiate with him, I want a sure fire major league player, somebody like, Jimenez, Torres, Robles, Kopech, Buehler, Bichette not a bunch of players to fill out the prospect lists.
Also I agree with you I don't want any pitcher that is already a relief pitcher for Berrios or Rogers, the odds that a starter they get will end up being a relief pitcher anyway.

I know this is the equivalent of spitting into the wind, and I am probably showing my age, but you need to get major league talent for Berrios, not AA prospects no matter what number you attach to them.  That level of starting pitching in MLB is simply too rare to not get something current in return, especially with a bidding war going on.  Talk to a team with a deep bullpen and get a decent arm back, then talk about AA guys.

Can't agree with either of the Berrios trades.  Forget the second piece leaving the Twins, the Twins should be asking about the return you suggest just for Jose...or more.  He's the best pitcher available this July, he is a near ACE, he is young, durable and you have him for almost a year and a half.  That's gonna cost you your #1 prospect, plus, plus.
Wasn't it interesting what the Twins just got for Cruz after many were suggesting they would get little in return?

The Twins got 2 decent pitching prospects, including one who was rated #98 overall in 2020, for a 41 year old DH on an expiring deal. As one of one the better relief pitchers in baseball consistently for the past 6 seasons and still with 1 1/2 years of control, Taylor Rogers should have a bit more trade value than as just a throw-in as it seems in deals #1 and especially #2.
