"I look at this place as one refuge where fans can bitch and moan and celebrate together-without resorting to personal beefs, and keyboard warriors are not something we have to deal with. (That's what twitter's for). My kudos to the admin's, and to the people on this board itself.

I gotta say, these past few days-- my country is grieving and tearing itself apart, and Hong Kong where I live, is literally tearing itself apart. It's incredibly scary here right now; yesterday and last night were some of the worst hours of my life. I needed this couple hours of respite for my very soul today. I'm happy for the Twins win. And I'm happy to share it with folks like you."

    Minnesota nice.  Hong Kong strong.

    Happy with the outcome.
Our staff allows 4 walks, at least one was a lead-off (thankfully erased in DP).  Theirs?  1.
Mark my words - This team's post-season hopes will be made or lost on the staff's (both starters and relievers) ability to throw more first-pitch strikes.  They must play up to the level the team's offense deserves.

Repeat - Happy with the outcome.  "Let it Sano."

I sometimes check out the oppo team's sbn board, just to see how their fans are reacting- and maybe, just maybe, for a little chuckle of schadenfreude.

True to form. Of course, just like folks we know (and are), they're kvetching about their recent bullpen acquisitions not paying off, and I got another chortle about one fan's musing that Twins fans must also be cursing their bullpen for giving up the lead. (True dat).

But one thing that I appreciate so much about this board- once Arraez got that bloop, F-bombs everywhere, and after the Sano blast, some of them started personally sniping at each other, going so far as to cut and paste weeks-old posts to rub stuff in someone's face.

Every win without Buxton feels like house money. Somebody needs to tell Jake Cave to quit trying be a hero out in the field. Don't need to replace Byron, just play clean baseball.

Nice analysis. Just my observation, but Eddie seems slower off the crack of the bat, and his strides seem short. On replays of balls hit to his defensive area he doesn't seem to have any closing speed to reach balls adequately. Might be due to injury or something else but he's not playing the greatest defense this year.

And . . . I'm ticked off at Buxton for again running into the wall for no good reason. Dude, you gotta stay off the IL man. Play a little deeper so you can get to the wall before the ball does or something. You've got the speed and ability to race in and grab the flares and short liners. I'd rather a few balls drop in for a hit here and there if it means you staying in the lineup. Rant over.

Great job by Smeltzer. I liked that Rocco took him out when he did and didn't let the big bats for the Royals get a another look at him.

I did not like how Rosario came out of the box on the ball off the wall. I don't care if guys admire their home runs, but it better leave the ballpark if they stand and look at it. It would have probably still been a close play at second, but run hard out of the box! I also didn't like when Polanco argued strike 3 the other day on a check swing when the ball got past the catcher. You have a better chance of getting to first running than you do arguing a check swing. That stuff needs to get cleaned up.

The problem with Warne's tweet is, if Rogers was available...and we know he was...its a three run lead, Rogers is the guy you've decided gets the 9th with a 3 run lead.

You put Rogers out there to start the 9th.

If Rogers cant be used 3 days in a row, what was he doing out there today?

I can imagine the conversation on the mound at the start of the ninth.

“Hi I’m Jason. I’m the catcher for the Minnesota Twins, as you can probably tell, with all this gear I have on! Anyway, it’s good to meet you—oh here comes the umpire. Quickly, we use 1 for fastball, 2 for curve, 3 for change up. Pretty standard stuff. Oh, just out of curiosity, do you even throw a change?”

really hard to blame Dyson for this one, dude wasn't even at the ballpark when the game started. He never should've been put in that position, that's on Rocco.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with removing Pineda when he did. Pineda had been giving up hard contact all game, and was due up to hit. I think every manager in baseball removes him for a pinch hitter there.

Yesterday and today's pen management is open to some scrutiny, for sure.

Simply bizarre bullpen management from Rocco, dating back to last night.

Getting Rogers warmed up with a seven run lead was odd. Using him with a three run lead, one out, and bases clear was also odd. Even when Poppen got into trouble, there was nothing that Harper or Thorpe couldn't have fixed.

Then pulling Pineda today, when he was pitching well and the game was much closer, was taking the wrong lesson from the previous night. It was fine to rest Berrios, because a seven run lead is very secure. I'd have preferred to see Pineda pitch a seventh inning if he's cruising, because a three run lead is far less guaranteed. Finally, using Dyson today, fresh off the plane, when Harper, Thorpe, or May were rested just doesn't make any sense. Let the guy get settled. Just because the Twins acquired Romo and Dyson doesn't mean that the previous relievers can't get the job done for you.

Obviously it all completely backfired. Not only did the Twins take a completely unnecessary loss, but they managed to get Rogers completely ruled out for a couple games, and use Dyson and Harper unnecessarily. What was a rested bullpen is now one that probably needs some help again. What I liked about how Rocco managed at the start of the year was that he was willing to put a bunch of different relievers in big spots. Obviously as we get down to the end of the season, that was going to tighten, but now it seems as though we've gone all the way to the other extreme, where if there's any trouble at all, Rogers is the only option.

I expect we'll see Stashak and Poppen head back to Rochester, while Zack Littell returns to the team. Hopefully the Twins can have a no-doubter against Kansas City tomorrow night and maybe let Thorpe mop the game up. But if it doesn't happen that way, Rocco's mistakes yesterday and today have really made things difficult. Should've been a sweep.
