Diesel reacted to Seth Stohs in Twins Minor League Report (9/14): Woods Richardson Deals, Saints Come Marching In
    Well, in 2022, you've got:
    1B: Sano/Kirilloff
    2B: Polanco/Arraez
    3B: Donaldson/Arraez
    SS: Polanco/FA/Trade
    LF: Larnach/Rooker/Kirilloff/Gordon/Celestino
Adding him to the 40-man now is fine since he won't be optioned this year.
But yes, there will be moves made, I'm sure.
    Also, 23 is not Old...

I think we'll see Strotman at some point over the final 2 1/2 weeks. Tom's video today showed him hitting 96. He has hit as high as 99 in a recent start. So, he is very exciting.
Agree on Miranda. He could be called up, but he'll be added to the 40-man after the season. Not sure he's an opening day candidate anyway... and even if he is. 10 days or whatever isn't going to make any sort of difference.

Can throw 100+ but is going to need secondary pitches and some health to be a stud. Good high risk high reward pick

While the Twins have had their fair share of injuries and disappointing performances, it will be interesting to find out how the Indians can now react to their fair share of adversity. Out of Cleveland's Opening Day rotation, nobody is left. Currently, JC Mejia, Cal Quantrill, Sam Hentges, and Eli Morgan make up the current roster..... I don't know who any of those guys are. It would suck if the injury woes derail the season, as the Indians were seemingly on their way to the playoffs.
    Work has been slowly taking more and more of my days, so I have had less time to watch the team. What may I have missed over the past few weeks? (Wrong answers only}

One of the biggest reasons of the current situation for the Twins is a barren pitching staff, so I looked at whether any old friends would have helped us this year...
    Jake Odorizzi: 1-3, 6.75 ERA
    Rich Hill: 5-2, 3.38 ERA
    Trevor May: 2-2, 3.86 ERA
    Sergio Romo: 0-0, 5.75 ERA
    Matt Wisler: 1-2, 6.05 ERA
    Zack Littell, 0-0, 1.47 ERA
    Sean Poppen, 0-0, 7.71 ERA
I wanted Rich Hill back so badly...... but otherwise, the Twins' front office decisions did not affect this season at all. A short season makes it really hard to tell who is truly good and who's not, given the lack of data. Also: good for Zack Littell!
Going back another year, we have
    Martin Perez: 4-3, 3.88 ERA
    Ryne Harper: 0-0, 1.29 ERA
    Blake Parker: 0-0, 2.45 ERA
    .......Am I missing somebody?

    1. Lance Lynn, 7-1, 1.23 ERA

Even if the Twins are struggling, I still feel like this lineup is among the most exciting in baseball. Trevor Larnach and Alex Kirilloff are both very promising prospects with a lot of pop. Garver and Sano are starting to show their 2019 swings again. Simmons is a wizard at shortstop. Josh Donaldson is still a star of this league. We watched through the 2011-2014 seasons, right? The problem this year has been the lack of "clutch" moments so far. During the Metrodome era, my favorite player was Jason Kubel. Why, may you ask? It is because he seemed to perform when he was absolutely needed. The grand-slam cycle game, 2009 Game 163, the list goes on...... Jorge Polanco had the walkoff hit a couple nights ago, but he's not in the lineup. Baseball is my favorite sport because you can accurately tell how individual players are performing. For example, Josh Willingham was a Silver Slugger on an awful team. However, on the Vikings, it was hard to tell how well Harrison Smith was playing on a train-wreck defense. No matter how bad your favorite baseball team is, there is usually something to cheer for. A season is never truly lost. A legend climbing the all-time lists, a young guy reaching his potential, a pitcher with a lights-out fastball..... I sure hope that's not all I have to root for this year. The season is still very young.

Yesterday was an awesome game to watch. A high-stakes matchup against a good team won in a nail-biter. Despite all of that, I will not be watching the game today. Why, may you ask? South Dakota State is gunning for a FCS national championship today. I know some people shrug off lower-level football, but there are a lot of high-caliber players that come from low level Division 1 football, may of which the Golden Gophers would have gladly used. Zach Zenner, Dallas Goedert, and Adam Vinatieri are three alumni that have had significant success. For baseball, Blake Treinen and the Twins' own Caleb Thielbar are currently relief pitchers. It is awesome to see the jump to Division 1 finally paying off, as more players of this region are given a chance to succeed against top programs.

Even if being a sports fan around here is painful, let's be happy we aren't Oakland. The Warriors left for the brighter lights of San Francisco, the Raiders are in Las Vegas, and the A's are going to..... Montreal? Nashville? Portland? The A's HAVE to stay in Oakland, There is so much history there, Rickey Henderson's baserunning antics, the Bash Brothers, Moneyball..... The town needs a sports team. I understand that taxpayers shouldn't get the bill, but the owners have to understand why people aren't showing up in bunches to the Coliseum.....
Let's get a win today, and worry about the next game afterwards!

    That's an odd statement.
The A's and Giants played against each other in the World Series in 1989. Since then, the A's have made the postseason 13 times and the Giants have made the postseason 8 times and reaching the World Series 4 of those times.
These two clubs have both been very, very successful over the past 30 years.
Are you talking about drawing fans? There are plenty of people in the Bay Area to go to both A's and Giants games, it's just that the A's need a new stadium. That'll solve their problem, the only thing is their having a heckuva time figuring out how to do it.

This has been a tough stretch of games to watch. An anemic offense, a horrendous bullpen, a COVID outbreak.... what's more to love? What does this team need to succeed? We just have to remember: Season is not over.... yet.

2011 was a bad year as a Twins fan. After a great 2010 opening season at Target Field, the team fell flat. Cuddyer was the strongest hitter in a sea of bad players: Luke Hughes, Tsuyoshi Nishioka, Matt Tolbert, Rene Tosoni, Jason Repko, Drew Butera, Brian Dinkelman.... yeesh. Mauer and Morneau are not right. Joe Nathan and Matt Capps were both bad. A lot of talent severely underperformed, but there were also some bad players forced to be up for significant time. This team CANNOT let these losses drag their play further into the dumps. I don't know what it's going to take. Can Gardy come back to give some speeches? As a fan, it's been hard to watch. Not just that the team is losing, but of all the heartbreakers, including last night. I'd like to see some enthusiasm tonight in a Twins win tonight.

I actually feel that Polanco is far and away the most likely member of that group who will come back to help this team offensively. Just my take.

    Interesting things in the lineup.

Arraez getting the start at second with Polanco on the bench.  Day off for Polanco, or a signal that Arraez might now be becoming the starter at second, with Polanco in more of a utility spot (for the record, I argued for this alignment from the instant we signed Simmons).

Buxton back--apparently the Twins have accomplished a great leap forward in sports medicine, and cured patellar tendinitis in one day.  Sarcasm aside, this suggests a level of panic within the organization; this team was built to withstand multiple injuries, crank out solidly above average lineups, and grind other teams into dust as the season progressed.  Bringing Buxton back after only one day off makes it seem like the team is desperate to get wins, and is willing to sacrifice the big picture to do it.

Is 9-5 the best lineup we've been able to put out all year?  If so, wouldn't it make more sense to bat Simmons 6th, and get him the extra PA before Willians, Mitch, and Jake?
