Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming Kikuchi didn't tell Miranda what pitch was coming and where it was going to be located.
Miranda (a rookie with 80 plate appearances and a reputation, historically, for being aggressive at the plate) first needs to make contact with the pitch to push it to the opposite field, and with Kikuchi averaging almost 10 K/9 and a career 15% swinging strike rate generated, he's been pretty successful at preventing contact. Furthermore, Miranda is a dead pull hitter and while it's easy for writers or commenters to say "just hit it the other way" as if players could just change their swing on the fly, in reality, MLB pitchers aren't throwing pitches with the intent of letting the batter dictate where the pitch goes.
Want to complain about swinging wildly at a 3-0 pitch with runners on after the last two hitters walked? That's fair. Complaining the Twins hitters didn't hit balls to exactly the most opportune spot during all their at bats, not so fair.

Wrigley is a dump.  Take in the history...sure, but the actual ballpark is utterly unremarkable.  And since that's the case...it's hard to ignore all the absolutely awful components of it.  Sightlines along first and third are atrocious.  The wind off the lake there can make even a warm summer day uncomfortable.  Venders are few and far between.  The bathrooms are gas station level.  The food isn't much better.  And there isn't really much "traditional" in the experience either.
I'd much, much rather hit a game on the south side.

dex8425 got a reaction from Karbo in Help me understand the Paddack move
Paddack had a really good FIP last year. He was the Padres opening day starter in 2020. He's 26 and was a top prospect. He's projected to throw 130 innings with an ERA in the low 4's in 2022. That's more innings than you're going to get from Rogers this year. Add in the cheap cost controlled 2023 and 2024 and that's why baseball trade values lists Paddack as much more valuable than Rogers. Rogers is a free agent after this year.
Paddack will be in the rotation all year. Bundy and Archer will not.

Cant agree with you here.  Paddack was a to 50 MLB prospect a few yrs ago (2019) has put up decent number at the MLB level. TO say he has no upside is fare off.  He would absolutely fit in our rotation and be a better option the any of the current AAA starters.

Now I do not want to give up Taylor Rogers for him.  But so say he has no value to this team is crazy talk!

I had to 'clear the mechanism' and reread this. It is absolutely fantastic, especially some of the extra little notes that really make it.
Twins scout Jack Powell is also in Trouble with the Curve. I'd have to include him.
The first baseman/mom's boyfriend in Little Big League has to be considered.... And that team's shortstop was Kevin Elster, so he has to be considered, as does former Saints hitter Leon "Bull" Durham.
I was going to say Jim Morris as a lefty-reliever, but he's real.

Thanks for this, was a pleasure to read. 7/133 actually seems more than fair to Buxton. I wouldn't make him the highest paid player in baseball. He's not Mike Trout, because Trout has actually proven he can stay healthy and win MVP's.
7/133 would be a huge gamble for the Twins. If Buxton wants more than that I'd honestly try and trade him this offseason.

I was born in '91, so I've never seen a MN major sports championship, but if the Royals and Marlins can win a WS, the Twins should be able to. The Brewers have a shot this year getting zero help from their former MVP; there's no excuse for the Twins not winning a world series or playoff series when teams like the Marlins, Royals, Brewers, Reds, Rays, Rockies, and Cardinals have done it recently. I mean, the Rays have been to two world series in recent memory in the toughest division in baseball with zero fan support, a crappy stadium, and the lowest average payroll in the league.

If you use the four main professional sports leages- NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL, Minneapolis currently has the longest title drought of any city with all four leagues represented. End of story-worst state to be a sports fan.
Throw the MLS in there too, though the United have only had four seasons in the MLS so far and definitely overachieved last year.

Who's the next team to break the title drought? Uh...Wild, maybe?

Rocco literally said the Twins are rebuilding this week, using that exact word. He also said the Twins "don't have the payroll of the Dodgers or Yankees" so can't just spend our way to contention year in and year out.

Yep. I'd be willing to bet Donaldson ends up with more career WAR than Buxton.

Buxton's presence will not be missed on a nightly basis because he's never played on a nightly basis. Speed first outfielders with a long history of injury issues don't suddenly become more healthy in their 30's. He's not going to be consistently on the field. Frankly I think the Twins offer to him was more than I would've offered. I'd do a shorter higher AAV deal though.

The Twins have already made an overly generous offer. He is a career .247 hitter and his yearly war is just 3.0. They offered him more than the Yanks gave Hicks. Berríos apparently wants $25M per year. Was nothing learned from the Mauer contract?

I strongly doubt the Twins extend either Berrios or Buxton. Berrios wants to see what he's worth in FA and if the Twins were going to extend him, that would've already happened. Buxton is expecting Betts/Lindor type money, and no way the Twins will pay that. I wouldn't touch extending him with a 20 foot pole with his injury history. Players with injury history in their 20's don't suddenly become healthy in their 30's. Aging is unavoidable, and since Buck relies so much on his speed as an asset, he will decline. I love Buck as much as anybody but you have to face the facts that he will not be a reliable CF. If he plays a corner spot he will be way overpaid especially when we have Larnach, Kiriloff, Wallner to fill those spots at a cheap price.

Next 6: Arraez, Balazovic, Kiriloff, Larnach, Lewis, Duran.
