nokomismod got a reaction from farmerguychris in One Position May Hold the Key to the Twins Offense
I would love to see Kiriloff healthy and breakout but if he cannot why not Larnach? He played a great first base in college and will hopefully breakout this season.

nokomismod reacted to Richie the Rally Goat in Was the Bomba Squad Overrated?
Exactly. The article missed the mark… the problem with the Bomba Squad wasn’t the rentals. The problem was they didn’t have enough pitching.
getting bounced by the Yankees again in ‘19 was getting beaten by a team that hit the second most home runs in the league AND had much better pitching.
frankly I wish the FO would sign more rentals. While I hate the Gallo signing, if I’m proven wrong and he actually can hit a Manfred Ball, that rental could prove to be a huge difference maker on a team that looks poised to prevent runs at a much improved rate, and struggle to score.

I read a yelp review on a restaurant once where the reviewer gave a restaurant two stars because they were handed 3 menus when the party of 4 was seated.
Some folks... just search for a negative to hang on to.

nokomismod got a reaction from Karbo in Taylor Trade Gives Twins Their Best Centerfield Depth in Years
I’m happy the front office addressed the defensive drop off when Byron is out. Without Buck, the outfield defense has gone from elite to ugly over the past 5 years.

nokomismod got a reaction from Vanimal46 in Gophers Football
Was great to be outside watching Gopher football on a beautiful night. I have a really good feeling about this team with their depth and quality of players on both sides of the ball. There isn't a game on their schedule that they should lose if they play their best football. Having Kirk Ciarrocca back as Offensive Coordinator is a big step forward for the offense which struggled the past two seasons with route design and general play design. Very glad Fleck let two guys he was friends with Mike Sanford (OC) and Robb Smith (DC) go and replaced them with guys that seem to get the most out of their personnel.
Anyone else here a Gopher fan?

nokomismod got a reaction from MABB1959 in Mahle for Steer/Hajjar/Encarnacion-Strand - How did the Twins blow this one so badly??
Not sure if Royals would have traded with the Twins, but at the deadline I believe the Twins already knew Kiriloff was done for the year and Buxton was limited. Trading for Benintendi or Merrifield (although he has struggled for the Jays) would have done wonders for this lineup.

nokomismod got a reaction from TwinsRealist in Mahle for Steer/Hajjar/Encarnacion-Strand - How did the Twins blow this one so badly??
For what reason? I don't think the ownership has been a problem at all except for maybe hiring Falvey and Levine. Terry Ryan had some complex where he thought he could get extra points for saving money on the roster but what I have heard was that ownership wasn't aligned with that approach.

We also heard, after the trade was finalized, that the Mets had turned thumbs down on a Paddack deal before us.

I would take Lopez over Duffey and Pagan any day. Lopez hasn't been perfect with the Twins but he has good stuff.

nokomismod reacted to Seth Stohs in Twins Minor League Hitter of the Month - August 2022
Quick note - I edited the intro paragraph. I had said that while the Saints will play like 3 more weeks, the other three affiliate's season will come to an end on Labor Day. That's is when the seasons have always ended, but I was reminded that they changed that this year, and the other affiliates will also continue their regular season for a couple more weeks before the playoffs.

nokomismod reacted to Bigfork Twins Guy in Can Simeon Woods Richardson Be Better Than Jose Berrios?
Yeah, I agree, When I read this I figured that Hrbowski must be doctor or pitching coach. With all the flaws that were highlighted in SWR's delivery I had also wondered if we could hire the guy down in LSU as an offseason consultant to help SWR resolve some of them.

When the Twins traded Eduardo Escobar in 2018, they had 'nothing to show for the trade' until 2022 - and now Jhoan Duran is one of the top relief pitchers in baseball. Sometimes you have to have a bit of patience.

nokomismod reacted to chpettit19 in It's Time to Shut Down Byron Buxton
Do you look at Buxton and see someone who isn't following a good conditioning plan? There's a number of articles out there that you can find about his running routine during the offseason to keep his speed and stay in shape. Buxton works his tail off. Somebody doesn't have to have failed at something for them to be injury prone. Sometimes their bodies just weren't meant to do the things professional athletes do with their bodies. Sucks, but it happens. There's no reason to believe Buxton's injuries have anything to do with lack of effort on his part.

nokomismod reacted to USAFChief in Week in Review: Running into a Wall
We'd all like to think so, but to date there isn't much if any difference between the 3 on offense. In fact Kepler has outhit Kirilloff in 2022. And both Kirilloff and Larnach are worse defensively, although I don't put much stock in the importance of corner OF defense.
I know there are potentially injury reasons, but it's not clear, to me at least, those are the cause. Or in the case of Kirilloff, something we can assume will resolve.
For me at least, neither have proven they're the answer to anything.

It is a combination of failures. I know all teams have injuries but the medical staff of the Twins has to be at the bottom. How on earth did they think Mahle was healthy? Far too many.

I would argue that there has been some exciting new faces (player development this year). If Larnach and Kiriloff would have stayed healthy Kepler's dismal performance wouldn't have been on display as much.

I don't think you are in the minority, Gardy managed some very good ball clubs...he just got aged out. Wish I could have been at the field and shook his hand last night it looked like he was enjoying himself.

nokomismod got a reaction from Heiny in This is It For Miguel Sano: What Now?
I’m going to that big guy. Nothing like hearing him crush a ball. I think it was 2019 at Kauffman stadium where this Royals fan in front of us seemed to really relish throwing shade at Miguel. He came into the game struggling and stuck out on his first at bat but with a good looking cut. Next at bat he tattooed a ball that ended up being a game winning home run I recall. I felt like he could have been one of those rare guys to lift his team to another level but not it never happened. Best of luck!

Not sure if the Royals would have dealt to the twins but at the deadline, management knew the lineup and the outfield needed a boost. A Benintendi or Merrifield pickup would have been big.
