The Gophers played their first baseball game in U.S. Bank Stadium history, beating Seattle University 13-4. In terms of how the ven...5377Sat, 25 Feb 2017 15:21:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-1-fernando-romero-r5376/Ever since Byron Buxton broke out in his first full season in the minors, he's been an easy choice as the top piece in Minnesota's system. From 2014 through 2016, Buxton was named either the No. 1 or No. 2 prospect in the game on basically every preseason prospect list, making his placement atop T...5376Fri, 24 Feb 2017 04:35:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-2-stephen-gonsalves-r5374/Expectations and excitement can get sky-high when a 22-year-old pitcher wins his organization’s minor league pitcher of the year award and dominates two levels in which he is one of the younger players. Among the Twins fan base (and certainly in the Twins Daily forums) that is the case for Stephen...5374Thu, 23 Feb 2017 03:04:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/get-to-know-gophers-sr-rhp-cody-campbell-and-gophers-notes-r5375/At Twins Daily, we take a lot of pride in providing you with quality Twins content. This year, we are going to be writing a little bit...5375Thu, 23 Feb 2017 02:02:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-3-alex-kirilloff-r5373/If you ever have an hour to spare and you’re not feeling great, do a search for “Alex Kirilloff Batting Practice” on YouTube, Google or your search engine of choice. I’d guess you’ll find yourself smiling. In preparing for this article, I only meant to watch one video. An hour later, I figured I s...5373Wed, 22 Feb 2017 04:44:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-4-nick-gordon-r5369/It has been a long, long time since the Twins have had a “shortstop of the future” in their pipeline. But since drafting Nick Gordon fifth overall in the 2014 draft, they finally do have one. And, now only three years after paying him $3,851,000 to pass on his commitment to Florida State, the youn...5369Tue, 21 Feb 2017 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-5-tyler-jay-r5367/There's no doubting the potency of Tyler Jay's top two pitches. His hard fastball and filthy slider – trademarks during a tremendous tenure at the University of Illinois – are high-quality offerings that will induce swings and misses in the big leagues. Does he have the full arsenal, and the physi...5367Mon, 20 Feb 2017 02:55:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-6-wander-javier-r5365/Just a couple of years ago, MLB changed its rules on signing international players. In an attempt to keep signing bonuses down, MLB gave slot numbers that teams could use to sign 16-year-olds. In 2015, the Twins allotment was just shy of $4 million. They chose to give $4 million to shortstop Wande...5365Fri, 17 Feb 2017 04:20:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/get-to-know-lhp-domenick-carlini-r5363/5363Fri, 17 Feb 2017 01:48:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-7-adalberto-mejia-r5360/Cloudy bad seasons are supposed to provide some trade deadline silver linings. Left-handed starting pitching prospect Adalberto Mejia is the shiniest bauble the Twins acquired at last year’s deadline, but that’s about the only time you’ll see the adjective shiny in a sentence about Mejia. His stre...5360Thu, 16 Feb 2017 03:21:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/2017-minnesota-twins-roster-projections-the-relief-pitchers-r5359/Over the last two weeks, we’ve been making some roster projections for the teams from the Twins down to extended spring training. We predicted the starting pitchers earlier this week. Today we tackle the bullpen arms. Of course, there will be some crossover, especially in the lower levels. As alwa...5359Thu, 16 Feb 2017 02:41:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/td-top-prospects-8-kohl-stewart-r5358/In June of 2013, the Minnesota Twins made perhaps their most important draft pick of the past decade and beyond. With the No. 4 selection in hand after a dreadful 2012 season that reinforced the organization's desperate need for pitching talent, they gambled on a Texas high school hurler named Koh...5358Wed, 15 Feb 2017 03:49:00 +0000
