This would obviously be a bit disappointing because four Twins players topped 3.5 fWAR in 2019 (Kepler, Cruz, Polanco, and Garver), but the projections take into account what the players did prior to 2019 so they may be lower than what we’...8678Sat, 30 Nov 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/ask-seth-thanksgiving-edition-r8681/Leave a question or two in the comments below and I will answer them in the article itself. Ask me about the Twins, the offseason, minor leaguers, Rule 5, or whatever you want, within reason. I'll answer them first-come, first-serve. (and obviously, within reason and rules and such.) Let's get the...8681Fri, 29 Nov 2019 19:47:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/teams-can-shop-through-solid-twins-rule-5-additions-r8673/A week ago, Seth did a great job outlining players that the Minnesota Twins needed to add to the 40-man roster. Although a well-positioned conten...8673Fri, 29 Nov 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/new-twins-hitting-coach-edgar-varela-hunts-the-good-stuff-r8677/The Twins announced Tuesday that Varela, the team’s minor league field coordinator the past two seasons, would be taking over as hitting coach. This is the 39-year-old’s first MLB coaching job, though he has joined the Twins for brief periods over the past two years. Varela said he and former Twin...8677Thu, 28 Nov 2019 04:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/the-twins-should-bring-michael-pineda-back-for-2020-r8676/The 2019 season was going extremely well for Pineda before he was suspended. In 26 games started he had a 4.01 ERA, 4.02 FIP, 8.63 K/9 and 1.73 BB/9, but he had an excellent stretch before the suspension that really intrigues me. From June 13 to September 6 he had a 2.96 ERA, 9.5 K/9, 1.9 BB/9 and...8676Thu, 28 Nov 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/get-to-know-andy-young-billy-boyer-and-ten-minutes-with-tyler-r8675/Twins Territory covers a huge area. MLB Trade Rumors speculated that Moustakas could also be a target. Last night, Nate Palmer made a very good argument that the Twins should pursue Moustakas over Donaldson. The key to solving for that variable, especially if and when he moves off shortstop, is answering the question: Is his power real? Polanco has demonstrated some measure of me...8669Tue, 26 Nov 2019 05:25:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/josh-donaldson-is-a-rumored-twins-target-but-should-mike-moustakas-be-considered-instead-r8671/The Minnesota Twins will certainly be linked to a number of players over the next several weeks as the offseason is truly under way. This past weekend, Darren Wolfson of KSTP linked the Twins to free agent third baseman Josh Donaldson. This confirms to some extent the front office is willing to co...8671Tue, 26 Nov 2019 04:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/running-down-the-hall-of-fame-ballot-2020-edition-r8662/There may be some unclogging of ballots after multiple years where some writers felt there were more than 10 worthy candidates. This season could allow writers to consider the resumes of some of the other top candidates that have been held over from previous years. If I were lucky enough to have a...8662Tue, 26 Nov 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/hot-commodities-catching-up-on-the-free-agent-catcher-market-r8670/When putting together the Offseason Handbook, our presumption was that a crowded and relatively undifferentiated free agent catcher class would suppress salaries at the position, creating a buyer-friendly market. Early developments throw this premise into doubt. Untethered to draft pick compensat...8670Tue, 26 Nov 2019 02:41:00 +0000
