Many will fall into the “That’s Silly” category. Others will warrant interest and discussi...8707Sun, 08 Dec 2019 21:17:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-offseason-status-update-december-8th-2019-r8706/With Michael Pineda and Alex Avila now added to the fold, here's a snapshot of the 2020 roster and payroll as they stand today: Figures in blue are arbitration estimates via the Offseason Handbook, so the $98.5 million number isn't precise, but it should be in the ballpark. This means the Twin...8706Sun, 08 Dec 2019 18:36:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/free-agent-faceoff-madison-bumgarner-is-not-who-you-think-he-is-edition-r8705/Bumgarner’s pedigree in the postseason is undisputed, but he hasn’t appeared in a playoff game since 2016. That was the same season ByungHo Park was on the Twins. Doesn’t that feel like forever ago? If you want to cling to MadBum’s October heroics, there’s probably no convincing you that he’s not...8705Sat, 07 Dec 2019 20:30:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-villains-3-free-agents-who-love-terrorizing-minnesota-r8704/The Joker: Didi Gregorius Typing that name made me feel anxious. Recency bias from the deafening grand slam in game two of the 2019 ALDS may have forced my hand. The reality, however, is that Gregorius has destroyed the Twins for much longer than last summer. In 32 regular season games against Min...8704Sat, 07 Dec 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/gleeman-amp-the-geek-ep-456-pineda-and-avila-amp-bumgarner-r8703/http://traffic.libsyn.com/gleemangeek/Ep_456_Pineda_Avila.mp38703Fri, 06 Dec 2019 15:55:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/passan-twins-to-sign-catcher-alex-avila-r8702/As Passan noted, the catching market has developed quickly, so it's good to see the Twins lock down Jason Castro's replacement. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1202941948857868294 Speaking of Castro, Avila's skill set matches up nicely to the former Twins backstop. Avila is a left-handed hit...8702Fri, 06 Dec 2019 13:46:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-rookie-pitchers-were-well-prepared-in-2019-r8700/Pitching ain’t easy. You know this, I know this, and the pitchers themselves know this. Pitchers every year are sent up and down between AAA and the majors because no team ever has enough pitching to make it through a full season. Guys will go down with injury or wake up one day to find out what w...8700Fri, 06 Dec 2019 03:30:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-offseason-chapter-has-a-loaded-amount-of-spoilers-r8698/The more I worked through my own disappointment regarding the reality that Wheeler would not be coming to Twins Territory, the more I concluded that my expectations are largely built on straightforward belief. The Twins have a substantial amount of unallocated cash flow to deal with. They also hav...8698Fri, 06 Dec 2019 03:00:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/report-twins-nearing-multi-year-deal-with-michael-pineda-r8701/For the second time, it appears that the Twins will be signing right-handed pitcher Michael Pineda to a two-year deal. This one, however, is worth twice as much as his last deal. https://twitter.com/TheNoujFOX9/status/1202754119846395904 Two years ago, the Twins signed Pineda to a two-year, $10 mi...8701Fri, 06 Dec 2019 01:07:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/wheeler%E2%80%99s-gone-but-bumgarner-would-give-the-twins-plenty-to-work-with-r8697/After just watching Wheeler’s market heat up and go beyond what anyone predicted, it seems likely that Bumgarner could end up with a bigger contract than expected, though likely still less than Wheeler. Cole Hamels also signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Braves could help the Twins, as Atlan...8697Thu, 05 Dec 2019 13:30:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-announce-plans-to-extend-netting-at-target-field-r8696/Minnesota will be making multiple changes to their safety netting prior to the start of the 2020 season. Besides extending netting down both foul lines, the height of the netting above the dugouts will also be raised. According to the Twins, the following Target Field seating areas will be covered...8696Thu, 05 Dec 2019 02:05:00 +0000https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/just-how-good-is-blake-treinen-and-should-the-twins-sign-him-r8694/If you were like me when you saw Blake Treinen was non-tendered, you probably thought back to his 2018 season when he finished sixth in Cy Young voting and 15th for MVP. He was the most dominant reliever in baseball and it looked like the Athletics had a star for years to come. During that dominan...8694Wed, 04 Dec 2019 21:00:00 +0000
