Scouting Report
August 2022 Update
Of the top five players selected by the Twins in the 2021 draft, Miller is the only one who remains in the organization. All others (Chase Petty, Steve Hajjar, Cade Povich, Christian Encarnacion-Strand) were traded for veterans either during the offseason or at the deadline. It's easy to see why Miller is one they'd want to hang onto: a quality defensive shortstop with patience and plainly evident upside with the bat. So far that upside hasn't shown through much at Fort Myers, where he was batting .227 and slugging .297 through 84 games, but it's hardly alarming for a 19-year-old recent high school grad playing in an extremely pitcher-friendly league. What's most notable in his offensive performance is the 15% walk rate.
