Using Smith in the 6th inning with a lead is the perfect circumstance for the Twins. He had been good pretty much all year (he had declined lately, but still one of the better options). He just didn't get the job done tonight, and the defense is partly to blame for that. Rocco has made good decisions tonight. The only questionable decision he's made is sending Bundy out for the 5th, but it was a 7-3 game at the time. Completely justifiable.
