Game Thread Twins vs Reds 12:10pm cdt 6/22/2021 ad

With Ober faltering, the Twins should have had a lefty ready (Rogers or Thielbar) to face Winker in the 5th.  Winker's splits (avg./slg./OPS) this year: LHP: .241/.310/.654;  RHP: .362/.684/1.108.  Rogers would have had to face Castellanos after Winker, but that was preferable to a shaky Obler facing Winker for the third time.

The Twins have years to decide on Celestino.....Gordon should be playing nearly every day, so they can make decisions on him with actual data.....

They’re both kind of in the same boat. Gordon will be out of options in 2022 and Celestino out of options in 2023.

That's a big year difference......and, it seems clear Celestino isn't ready yet. Given what Sano did today, I'd put Gordon at 3rd when Donaldson isn't playing, I guess......

I am still upset about HBP on Buxton.    Several years ago the HBP on Buxton in the helmet was thrown by a Reds pitcher.   I think the pitcher and manager should be ejected for 2 HBPs in a game.

It was Lucas Sims.

I’d be good with that. I’m not a believer of Arraez at 3B. He’s marginally better than Tortuga, which isn’t saying much. Still 90 games left to gather as much info as possible. If the team is torn down like people want in July, there will be plenty of PAs to fill in for.

And those three runs in the eighth are now the difference.

And that is why Colome is such a bad decision. That and playing so many out of position on the field.

If you want to make your team better, you don't trade your best players for long term hope and dreams, you keep the best and replace the worst.

And, if they won't sign here? And, if you don't have enough minor league players to do that? How do you fix it? How do you expect them to find 3 or 4 new starting pitchers next year? And a SS? And 4 new relief pitchers?
