Nicely done, Nick! I think it's important for people (fans and the Twins and especially Gibson) to be patient. When I talked to Kyle at Twins Fest, we didn't talk much baseball, but I did ask him how he's feeling. You could see in his eyes that he is very excited, excited to get it going and to show he's healthy and to make the team. That's great to see! But I also talked to Mike Radcliff a bit later, and he said Kyle is doing great and where you would hope he would be, but that they are going to have to really work to keep him from trying to do too much throwing. There certainly is a fine line there. As Gardy said in his interview, there will be some limits on him. As much as I like him and would love to see him make the Opening Day roster, what's best for Gibson in the long-term is hopefully all that matters to anyone!

Expect he will start in Rochester, though he could be here. Other options will probably say he starts there. Expect him in about June or July if he performs well. Not my choice would rather have him start here, but just reality.

This goofy deal with Swarzak opens the door for Gibson to start the season as the mop up guy in the bullpen. He will be able to keep his work load down(we hope) and get in some real low pressure MLB innings before he has to take over in the rotation when the straw men begin to fall. How soon he'll be needed in the rotation will depend on the the health of Rich Harden. Surely by the end of May one of the 2 free agent starters will have failed miserably if not both of them.

Good point there fairweather, that's the perfect place for Gibson to start the season. It does no good for him to be starting games at AAA, because he'll still be racking up the innings. Better to have him in the pen for a couple months, even if that means watching Deduno again.
