Colabello is making Morneau even more realistic as trade bait.

I think that Colabello is actually making Chris Parmelee trade bait more than Morneau (Colabello would be the bridge to Sano at 1st).

So Collabello has more power potential than either Morneau or Parmelee correct? Anyone know how his glove his?

I wouldnt say Colabello has more power potential than those two LHH's. BUt he is showing he can produce at the higher levels of the minor leagues which makes it easier to deal on e or both of the LH 1st basemen. And I am not so sure Sano wont break into Mnnesota at 3rd base rather than 1st. His defense is only going to get better and was improving after last summer.

Forgive me, but can someone pot som background on Collabelo? Age, level, etc?

How so? All the reports I have heard is that the organization wants to make room for Parm in 2013. And I think Plouffe is the bridge to Sano at 3B. I think Sano has a better shot at OF or DH than 1B for the Twins

He's 29... 2012 was his first season in affiliated ball after being the independent league player of the year in 2011, his 7th or 8th year with that team, in the town he went to college in. Just a great story.

Due to the age, the word 'potential' may not be appropriate. However, I think he can be a solid enough RH bench bat with a little power who can pinch hit and play some 1B.

Colabello is the real deal and has proved to the Twins that he can hit the ball. He had great power in New Britain. He is very good defensive 1st baseball. He also can play 3rd base. This kid can hit and everyone is finally seeing this. The twins need to trade Parmalee andMorneau. Give Chris Colabello a chance in the big leagues. He will be a fan favorite as he was in New Britain.

It's a great story, but 29-yr-olds who tear up AA are not long-term MLB solutions and are rarely even everyday MLB players. If he is plan A for 2013 (and I'd recommmend against), plan B had better be a whole lot better than rushing the superprospect who showed inconsistent flashes in low-A last year.

Colabello might be a good platoon option for either Parmalee or Morneau, but counting on more than that is crazy.

Colabello is a nice story, just like Seth's buddy Chris Coste was. Colabello was brought in to fill a hole in the Twins minor league system. Maybe he will earn a look in the majors but he isn't really in the Twins plans as much more than minor league depth. As said above, a bench role in the majors is likely his ceiling. That doesn't mean he isn't a guy to root for. Occasionally late bloomers stick around the majors for a few years, much like Coste did.

well put, Jim H, and that would be awesome if he can be a great story like that. He definitely was the good story of the year in the Twins farm system.
