    The Amazing 2012 Beloit Infield

There is a pretty good chance that Beloit Snappers will start the season fielding Eddie Rosario at 2B, Levi Michael at SS, and Miguel Sano at 3B. It's a great year to live near a Midwest League team. If these guys are playing, I know I'll be going out to see it any chance I get.

With Gonzalez repeating already and Vargas suspended, there is a big question mark surrounding who will be playing first base. The rest of the infield should be stacked though.

I think that Michael will start in E-town. Never played a single pro game yet... You should probably add Kennys Vargas 1B in the equation, he will be very good in Beloit this season.

Vargas' suspension was last August so it is about half done I think

I'd be surprised if Michael doesn't start the season in a full season league.

Division 1 baseball is comparable to rookie ball and Michael has 3 years there. That and being a 1st round pick means there is no way he is playing rookie ball.

I have no idea if you're right but I could see the Twins holding him back in Florida for a few weeks until the weather warms up since he's coming off some minor injuries.

I say let Michael jump in with both feet. If he's not cutting it by the time E-Town is starting up, you can send him back there. My guess is he would do just fine in Beloit.

There's no way they hold Levi Michael back for 3 months waiting for Elizabethtown's season to start.

Beloit is most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts in Fort Myers either.

1.) No way that Michael goes to E-Town. I was actually somewhat surprised to keep hearing he'll likely go to Beloit. I would have guessed Ft. Myers until Terry Ryan mentioned him as a Beloit candidate.

As for 1B at Beloit, they'll go with Rory Rhodes and Roy Larson.

Vargas is suspended. Michael/Gonzales should start either in FM or in AA.

Levi Michael better start in A ball. No reason not to. Dozier started in Eliz because....I'm not sure why, but he did.

Where he was drafted makes a difference. Dozier was drafted in the 8th round.

Dozier actually started with the GCL Twins and played about 6 games with them before moving up to E-Town.

I've been planning on making trips to Beloit since the end of last season.
Will probably also try to line up some games with them in other ballparks. QuadCities is a nice park to watch the Snappers play in.
This team should be fun to follow.

Eh, guys who excel in college ball, including playing in the college world series, really don't need to play in rook ball. But I see why Dozier did, because the
Twins had all their other teams set, post draft.

Which is why Levi, who didn't play last summer, really doesn't need to play rook ball. Way more polished than that. I think Dozier was too. Asked him about
college ball during the caravan and he was comparing it to FM/NB level at the CWS.

I just looked through my notes from last year, Vargas has 32 games of his suspension left to serve, so he'll be eligible to return May 9th.

I guess a combination of Larson/Rhodes could work for awhile. Kyle Knudson saw a little action at 1B in 2010. I know that Kepler has been getting some work at 1B too, that would make an even more interesting prospect-laden infield.

When to the Twins announce who is going to be on each team? I need to make a weekend trip to Beloit a priority this year.

Probably around April 4th or so, 3-4 days before their season starts. The Territory Train is heading to Quad Cities to watch the Snappers on a Friday night and then heading over the Beloit for a Saturday night game in early June. I'm heading on that one. It will be fun. I'd also like to make a 2nd trip down there as well. It's a great place!

I won't know what our family's summer schedule looks like until some of the kids camps get picked. Once I do, I'll be looking long and hard at the Territory Train schedule.
