Why not put Liriano in the bullpen and and replace him with Brian Duensing? Maybe the wear and tear on Liriano will be less.

They won't replace Liriano with Duensing in the rotation. Duensing doesn't have even half of the upside Liriano has in the rotation. Liriano could be effective in the bullpen, but they won't do that anytime soon, especially with their rotation depth right now. If he doesn't perform this year, he probably won't stay in the organization, so I doubt we'll ever see Liriano in the bullpen with the Twins.

Phil Mackey has some good information from pitching coach Rick Anderson on Liriano's struggles and (surprise, surprise), Andy attributes the lefty's woes to mechanical issues:
"Consistency with his delivery," said pitching coach Rick Anderson after morning workouts on Monday."I asked him today, 'What was your whole focus in the 'pen?'" He added, referring to Liriano's 53-pitch bullpen session. "'Staying tall.' He'll throw a bad one, and I'll ask him, 'What'd you do?' He said, 'I dropped.' So he'll start to see it hopefully. It's time to see it."
