Why don't they pound away at the beginning of the process with young players? That seems to be the answer for most hitters anyway. I don't get MLB "strategy" very well....

How about the Twins advance scouts figure out how to attack other team's players?

I have to say, the charts look pretty similar to my eye except that it looks like he was chasing more farstballs up and sliders darting out of the strikezone. I'm sure clubs did do some scouting on him but seeing as obviously not every pitcher throws sliders, his recent struggles may have something to do with the type of pitchers he has recently been seeing.
