I won't attempt to duplicate RiverBrian's '5 Things to think about,' so I will leave that to you. Start with 1. and fill in your thoughts ... then 2. and so on. Please keep the first 5 things A's/Twins related but after that, random thoughts are welcome!

Thanks and enjoy the game! (Well, as best as we can!)

2. Think about Oct 6, 2002 that was the day a Gardy managed team won it's only playoff series, against the A's in the same stadium as tonight's game.

3. Think about numbers (and the two posters above forgot theirs!). 3 is Gardy's magic number. The half full side of me is all 'Yay for Gardy! What a milestone!' The half empty side of me is all 'At this rate he's not gonna make. Not with this team.' The 'it's a half a glass of water' side of me is ... it's a number. And today it's 3.

4. Think about more numbers. The A's magic number is 4. I really don't want to be the team standing out on the field watching the A's celebrate winning their division. We have to win the next 3 and we will have achieved 3 and 4.

5. Think about this starting lineup:

Alex Presley CF
Chris Herrmann C
Brian Dozier 2B
Oswaldo Arcia RF
Josh Willingham DH
Chris Parmelee 1B
Eduardo Escobar 3B
Clete Thomas LF
Pedro Florimon SS

Plouffe should probably think about it more than any of us.

Plouffe has a sore wrist that has bothered him since he came off the DL in June according to the PP. He finally revealed this after he left the game in the eighth inning last night.

I thought maybe the tumble he took caught up with him.

My 'pour me a cold one' is likely going to be a milkshake instead of a beer. :)

Does Albers balk all the time?

edit: interesting. He doesn't need to come to a complete stop if the bases are empty.

The pitcher, following his stretch, must (a) hold the ball in both hands in front of his body and (B) come to a complete stop. This must be enforced. Umpires should watch this closely. Pitchers are constantly attempting to “beat the rule” in their efforts to hold runners on bases and in cases where the pitcher fails to make a complete “stop” called for in the rules, the umpire should immediately call a “Balk.”
Rule 8.01(B) Comment: With no runners on base, the pitcher is not required to come to a complete stop when using the Set Position. If, however, in the umpire’s judgment, a pitcher delivers the ball in a deliberate effort to catch the batter off guard, this delivery shall be deemed a quick pitch, for which the penalty is a ball. See Rule 8.05(e) Comment.

It never ceases to amaze me. Bert Blyleven, who owes his HoF induction to sabermetrics, doesn't know the difference between a PA and an AB
