I'm taking the conservative approach on this. The Twins have nothing to gain by trotting Mauer out there in the final month in my opinion, so why not give some guys who haven't had major league experience get some?

Y! SPORTS

I say let Mauer get rested for 2014 and let him play with Sano and (hopefully) Buxton. I'd hate to see him get another concussion and find himself out for a while.

By the way, if you guys are looking for some quality entertainment, you should check out the comments on the bottom of the article I linked to. Some people just don't get this whole concussion thing.

I don't know, I read all 17 comments, and I only read one that wasn't reasonable. (Rob K)
The rest seem to be saying that IF HE'S HEALTHY, he shouldn't be shut down just for the sake of shutting him down. IF HE'S HEALTHY, let him play mostly 1B or DH for the rest of the year.
I don't see how that is an unreasonable argument at all.
If you are going to shut him down just because the games are meaningless, then you might as well shut him down until 2016.
If he's not healthy, he shouldn't play, but if the doctors clear him to play, he should play.

Let him 1B/DH if cleared. Gives us a chance to have more looks at Hermann and Pinto behind the plate.

Whats gonna happen in 14'? lol. I mean we wont be good then because we have no core to build off of. We just got rid of Morneau so all we have now as far as good vets go is Mauer. You cant win with a bunch of rookies, or even 2nd year players. You need a core of players, we have none.
