Tyler Mason of foxsportsnorth.com writes about Mike Redmond and how everyone knew he would eventually become a manager. It gives the background and a lot of praise from ex-teammates:

"Everybody in here kind of knew that was going to be his next chapter in baseball," said Twins catcher Joe Mauer, who was backed up by Redmond from 2005-09. "He just knows a lot about the game. The way he played it, the way he related to younger players, including myself, you kind of knew that he'd be really good at being a manager later on."

It might beg the question of why they Twins weren't able to find room for him in their organization, though that would just mean he would have left them for the Marlins instead of the Blue Jays organization.

But I wonder how he is ever going to survive this year. They're a terrible team. Ownership is incredibly incompetent. Connecting with fans at this point is near impossible. Does he have any chance to survive even to the end of next year? (And can he please coach for us when they fire him?)

Twins always knew Redmond was manager material

Are the Marlins going to fire their manager when they gave him no talent (aside from Stanton) to work with? Redmond seems like that sacrificial lamb that has manage the team for 2-3 seasons while they are just awful.
