After today's intrasquad, Rocco basically said that they had determined that Chacin wasn't going to make the 30 man.

He was also adamant that Chacin is a big leaguer still and will pitch in the big leagues this year and probably be good.

Will be interesting to see who fills that spot. Imagine they could leave it open this week to see who other teams release that may be of interest, either fringe MLB player or prospect.

If it isn't filled come the weekend, could we please see Balazovic join the group...please!

Had the season started on time, Chacin could have pitched himself into the 5th or emergency starter role with Rich Hill completely out of the mix. Alas, that window has closed.

Never liked the move, frankly, seems washed up to me. No harm, no foul for take a flyer though, I guess. I'm sure the guy will catch on with a non-contender at some point this season.

Chacin signed with Atlanta today...

The next Anibal Sanchez?

And to think I wanted the Twins to sign Cole Hamels going into the offseason (who I assume he's potentially replacing).

With 0 games played as of July 21, I'm still happy with their decisions last winter.

I would take just about anyone over Homer Bailey, including Chacin.
