Ken Rosenthal reported a 5 year, $70 million extension with an option year that would bring it to $90 million. The Sox now have Jimenez, Robert, and Moncada extended.

I am getting very concerned about the White Sox.They look like they are going to be good for quite some time with a very nice young core. They lack depth right now but if their rookies pan out this year they are going to be a very tough team to beat in the future.

It would be nice to see the Twins counter this by announcing a Berrios, Garver or maybe Rogers extension. Those are core players that should be around long term.

This topic answers in part why they paid 3/50 to keep Abreu around. One because the owner said to pay the man but mostly because Jose is leader of the Sox Cubano/ Latinx contingent. Assuming Luis Robert stays healthy the ALC major market squad is threatening to escape the minor leagues this season. No one has predicted they will overtake the Twins but they might win a few games. Jose's 2019 was roughly competitive with Kris Bryant and neither can field. The Sox have a ward full of young TJ arms that could return and help out. Both teams will rely on pitching to reach their goals.
