Assuming we get actual dollar values, I'll update those in the article as well.

In a civil lawsuit, the party seeking relief is designated as "The Plaintiff" and the party being sued is designated as "The Defendant". However in a baseball arbitration,I have learned that the player is designated as "The Arbi" and the owner is designated as "The Trator"? Show me the money.

That's pretty clever.

I wonder if there is something can be said about if the "arbi"s have a beef.

Er...

MLBTrade rumors has this:

"The Twins announced that they struck deals with Trevor May, Taylor Rogers, Eddie Rosario and Byron Buxton. Buxton earns $3.075MM, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter)."

I suspect this will be Sano & Berrios attitude whenever a long term deal is offered.:(

Been there, done that already. Both of them did not agree to an extension when Kepler and Polanco accepted.

The Berrios news (and the threat of him becoming a free agent at first opportunity) just makes this failure of an offseason that much worse.

The window may be short.

Luckily for us, Sano is under Twins control through 2023 (Option year included) 😀

Twins are fighting Berrios over $375,000. Seems like a petty line to draw if you hope to build good faith with the player for a potential extension.

Maybe they are trying to work out a deal with him and that’s the hold up, and not $375,000.

Come on FO. Give Berrios a fair long term contract. Show him the money.

My thinking as well. Makes me very optimistic that they won't go to the arb hearing and that a 4 or 5 year extension is doable.

They did.He wants to go to arbitration for $300K difference and did not agree to a fair extension.

They should show him the door while he still has some value. It is clear that Berrios matters more to Berrios than the Twins matter to him.

With three years of control left, what do you suppose Berrios could fetch in return in a trade?

Sale plus $35M.And the Twins will be better for it, and probably the Red Sox as well...

Per Heyman, the Twins did not reach a deal with Jose Berrios.

This is disappointing because I did not want a settlement this year, I wanted a settlement for the next five years.

No - we have established this off season that we cannot get pitchers to come to us - so lets keep the pitchers we have.

So, a pitcher showing his age, and a pile of cash?

Did you read this thread before reading the news on Sano?

I’m hoping they are going to work out a deal with Berrios, too.
