If Kluber was traded to the Twins he would have become our ace.Berrios seems to be a good summer pitcher but has yet to show a complete season worthy of being called an ace.
You're right on both counts, although it's with this context: Cleveland acquired a nondescript Kluber in 2010. They gave up Jake Westbrook to the Cards, and he proceeded to average 0.0 WAR over the next three years. Kluber didn't emerge as a stud until 2014. So yes, if Kluber was traded to the Twins, back in 2010, he would have become our Ace. Now? Who knows? It's telling that the Rangers gave away very little.
Berrios was never projected to become an Ace, still isn't by most outside observers, Keith Law saw him as a reliever, or at best a #3. The Twins are doing well with him being a #1/2 starter. If he becomes a true Ace, hats off to this field staff.
