Looks like the market is heating up for Bumgarner now, and the Twins are in. Post rumors and thoughts as they arise, please:

He won't play for cracker jacks and peanut shells. I doubt we get him.

4/90, and if the CWS are desperate they could push madbum to 4/100.

I hope we get him, but doubt it as well.

Yep. No chance. As in Zero. Well, maybe lets give them 5%.

Start perusing the FA pitchers with ERA's in the 4.5-5.5 range. There you will find your champion.

Glad to hear this. I suggest low years, high AAV. Just do it!

He will be 31 in August and if combine his regular and postseason numbers he has thrown 1948 innings.Velocity has already dropped off the last couple years. Someone else can be the team to give him 3-4 years.

I'd be happy with 3/60.

I think the White Sox will be inclined to out bid us.

FWIW, my somewhat informed take is this:

Wheeler or Bumgarner or both were the Twins "A" plan. With Wheeler gone, they'll pursue Bumgarner heavily. I'll give them a 40% chance of landing him. The good news is since the Braves signed Hamels today, they're likely out on Bumgarner, and they were the heavy favorites in the betting markets to sign him.

If the Twins don't get Bumgarner, I don't hold much hope for a high impact starting pitcher to be added. Maybe Keuchel. But I assume that Ryu wants to stay west and Cole and Strasburg sound like they aren't seriously considering the Twins.

I'd be willing to bet he gets at least $80M guaranteed. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets $100M. He's only 30, albeit a well-used 30.

How about if we throw in a lifetime supply of bellies-full-of-bunnies snakes?

They might do it. Although Swedish fish might be a good counter.

Oh boy, they are in on him! It's too early to judge, but I don't care if they are in on players, I care if they actually sign them.

Just so you know. His family is from the east coast. His uncle also runs an applebees in Los Angeles. LOL

I don't care much for Keuchel. The Braves signing Hamels might be good as lots of prognosticators had him going back towards home. Hamels is only on a one year deal though, It wouldn't necessarily preclude a Bumgarner signing. With all their young arms, they might not be interested in multi year deals for starters though.

I don't know enough about Bumgarner's personality, but he's kind of escaping a rebuild situation. So if he's not really feeling hot about teaching a bunch of young starters how to wipe their noses, he may prefer joining up with Odorizzi and Berrios instead.

Maybe we can get the MN DNR involved and give him permission to lasso the bison that they started keeping at Minneopa State Park not too long ago.

How can the front office claim Bumgarner is an impact pitcher when he basically performed the same as Pineda this year?

Plus by all accounts he's a huge jerk who has a history of getting into conflicts with players of colors. Why anyone would want to add a potential clubhouse cancer to a team with great chemistry is beyond me.

Who would you rather have for $30 million a year, Strasburg or Bumgarner and an "elite" reliver like Addison Reed?

I’m not saying that didn’t miss hearing something about him, but saying “by all accounts” and calling a person prejudiced bigot is pretty damming language. Let’s trust the FO to do the right and proper due diligence and try to refrain from passing judgement on things we don’t really have full knowledge of.
