He needs a stint in the DL. Get someone else up to play first base other than Adrianza.

Bring up Tortuga, put Cron on the DL.

Marvin Gonzalez or Sano could play first base.

Marvin Gonzalez or Sano could play first base.

Marwin was graded as a top 10 defender at 1B by many of fangraphs' fielding metrics last year, so he makes the most sense at this juncture.

I would tell Jake Cave to get a first baseman mitt and be competent there by next April

I think I’d rather see Rooker. One hot series against a terrible team doesn’t erase 5 months of being the weakest link.

I like Cron 100% now and going forward to the finish line.

I disagree. His bat has been better than Rooker's in AAA and his performance at the bat in the majors this year has been above average.

Sure, his stats for the season indicate an above average hitter NOW. Before the Tiger series he was sporting a .719 OPS. Going into the Ranger series it was .661. As I said, one good series (or even 3) against terrible pitching doesn’t make him good.

Also, Cave isn’t a first baseman.

just guessing here, but my hunch is that all of mike trout's at-bats don't come against verlander and cole.

I'd rather they move Sano to first next year, and find a 3rd baseman.

Barring that, Cron is better than any other internal option.

Would hate to waste Sanos arm when he can still field third

Cron is hitting homers again. No need to put him on IL list.

On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

They saw some good pitchers since the start of the Texas series. He is getting consistent playing time. He isn’t as good as the player we saw the last 10 games or as bad as the player we saw prior to Texas. Taking the entirety of his performance (including AAA) the last two years I think he is a good hitter against right handed pitching and more ready to contribute than Rooker.

Given the current roster, taking Cron out of the line up against right handed pitching and inserting Cave with Gonzalez moving from RF to 1B seems like a good move.

Can he? Despite his arm, he's one of the worst defensive 3B in the league. And he'll probably be DH by 2021.

Except that Cave has been better vs LHP. A better idea would be to either put Garver at first base vs RHP or Sano with Adrianza at third.

I looked the two years of major league splits and the last three years of minor league splits. I think he can hit right handed pitching and has a chance to improve as gets experience

The sample of lefty v lefty in a single season is so small that I wouldn’t trust it in support of making any decision about playing time. We can disagree about the meaning of a single season split. I am probably in the minority.
