With the division race heating up and the Indians being a common topic of conversation around here it seemed like it might be useful to have a thread to discuss their games, injuries, roster moves etc. Especially on nights like tonight when they are playing and we aren't and we don't have a game thread.

For example, the Mets currently lead 2-0 and Syndergaard has a perfect game going. Would be quite the sweep.

In the spirit of Game Threads - do we need to have a little discussion about jinxes? :) (Bloop single spoiled the no-no a moment ago.)

/ edit - and now rain-delay in the bottom of the 6th

I'm not a big believer in Plutko or Plesac but I'm starting to worry this Civale guy might actually be good.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I was collecting Cleveland’s failed sacrifice bunts for a while, but stopped, because it just seemed... weird. They had three in the series finale against the Twins on Aug. 11 (Cleveland won). But their sac bunts since then have failed to pay off. Either because they failed to advance the runner, or the runner didn’t scor— wait, why I am talking about this again? :)

Umpires resume the game, around 10:00 or 10:15 PM.

The score is 2-0 Mets, after six.

Watched him pitch at Target Field in the spectacular extra-inning loss. He is good. Held the Twins at bay and is sporting a pretty gaudy ERA

A sigh of relief from Twins Territory this morning. Nice little sweep by the Mets - they've been crushing the teams atop the AL Central this year!

Cleveland is a good baseball team. I'd put them with the Twins in the second tier this year. I feel a lot better about their starting pitching next year, so I hope the Twins take advantage this year.

It's been a fun year so far, GO Twins.

Interesting, I haven't seen a specific timetable yet anywhere.

Victor Caratini of the Cubs had the same surgery on April 15th this year, and started a rehab assignment on May 6th -- so he was only on the shelf for 3 weeks. Of course, that was called an "incredible" recovery:

https://chicago.sunt...om-hand-surgery

Allegedly Delino DeShields had a 3 week recovery last year too:

https://www.mlb.com/...red-hamate-bone

But Joey Gallo had the same surgery on July 25th and is still out, 32 days later, still reporting "some soreness" when swinging a bat (of course, the Rangers are out of the race at this point, with little incentive to rush him back either):

Ramirez update:

https://www.mlbtrade...jured-list.html

"Ramirez is expected to miss five to seven weeks recovering from the surgery, the Indians announced. That almost certainly puts an end to Ramirez’s regular season while still leaving open the possibility of a postseason return, should the Indians qualify."

While the Twins game is about to get underway in Detroit, the Cleveland game is about to get underway in Tampa ... go Rays!

Tyler Naquin out for season.

Hurt his knee crashing into left field fence making a catch. Very unfortunate.
