I think they might make a Zack Duke trade in reverse but nothing that moves the needle.

"Zach Duke in Reverse" may be a disappointing trade, but could be a great Elvis Costello song!

I trust them to evaluate well and not screw up this team's future.

Trust but verify? We'll see. They opened up 3 spots on the 40 man for a reason. I think they are trying. Fall back plan will be some Pensacola flamethrowers maybe? I agree on a go big move here. Its likely we never see this good an offense again. Anyone in the minors we don't expect to help us next year on the 25 man roster should be made available to reinforce this team for a deep run this year. My opinion.

If they dont do anything, I'm gonna really regret not getting tickets to the BP even at TF. Thad might want to bring a poncho or some old clothes for when he gets pelted with rotten produce.

As long as it's not Pretzel Night at Target Field, Levine should be okay.

I would be extremely upset. You can claim all you want that the "price was too much", but I know for a fact you can get Ian Kennedy pretty reasonable and all you need to do is take on the salary, and if we don't end up with anyone you didn't try at all in my opinion.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Twins end up getting Will Smith.

What if Sergio Romo ends up being the best reliever traded? Not just for the Twins, but the entire league.

There have been Diekman, Wood, Phelps, and Martin dealt already... although I guess they're probably close to the Romo class...

Does Will Smith come with all 3 wishes?

Probably not, but the asking price may be proportionately as asinine.A I said, we are not in the front office so we don't know.

A guy like Ian Kennedy or Andrew Chafin or someone of that caliber, who would clearly improve the current Twins bullpen, would not cost those guys. So don't even go there.

They will make a move it just won't be as big of one as we all would like,I am sure they talked about deals for all kinds of guys at various levels and will work the phones today to see what they can find.If they don't find anything they can stomach I guess I would find that hard to believe. We have a lot of talent that is rule V eligible and they might as well do something with those assets rather than let them go for nothing.I still believe they will make at least one deal.

Oh, so you’re saying the Twins should trade for Tyreek Hill? :)

I think Graterol and Balazovic would have gotten us Stroman.

How in the hell do you know this? You assume, but you have absolutely zero evidence, other than your subjective belief, for what it would take to acquire any player.

I think it's fair to guess that if we ate Kennedy's salary, we could get him for a modest prospect return:

I think so too, although I'm not sure I'd want to do that trade!

One of the problems with the Twins organization is they have zero consistency in their approach.

When they were bad, instead of getting young players up quickly to evaluate and develop, they were very conservative in their approach and instead plugged in mediocre veteran after mediocre veteran. You can argue all you want, but the Twins brought their prospects up 1-2 years later than most other teams when they should have been advancing them 1-2 years quicker for their internal rebuild.

Now, by some sort of miracle, the Twins 2019 squad jumps out into the universe with what are already career years for many of their players. If they add a couple of key players they could be truly competitive, and by that I mean not just win the weakest division in baseball but have a real chance of winning it all.

So, for me if they sit pat that will be par for the course for this organization.

My approach: go after MInor or Snydergaard and pay the market rate.Give up one of Lewis or Kiriloff, any pitcher in the organization the other team wants, and a 3rd player plus any player in the organization that is essentially blocked like Nick GOrdon if that is what it takes to make the deal.

At one point I had Vazquez, Giles, Yates, Smith, Diaz, Lugo, Iglesias and Garrett on my wish list but due to more recent rumors, their team's recent actions and injuries, I've felt I had to mentally cross most of them off.

Though only in pencil, the sellers could just be gaming everyone, or have a change of heart.

Isn't it possible that the teams with pitching to trade are less than motivated to consummate a deal, or perhaps aren't interested in position player prospects, or more specifically aren't interested in our position player prospects, or are deliberately maintaining demands they know to be outrageous in the hopes that a theoretically young(ish) and inexperienced(ish) Twins FO will crack under the pressue?

I'm sure we could have Syndergaard right now if we gave the Mets Buxton, Balazovic, and Graterol.I'm sure Vazquez or Yates would be on their way if we gave up Kiriloff, Lewis, and Larnach. But would either of those deals be smart? No.

This is a team that is set up to be good for a long time--every member of our record-breaking offense except Schoop is under team control for next year, and for every reason to think there might be regression, there are reasons to hope for progression. Our pitching staff will need work next year, but you don't need to fix next year's staff today--you have an entire offseason.

I hope this Front Office doesn't do something for the sake of doing something; there is a chance we're looking at a 5-7 year window of annual competitiveness.

Like most, I will be disappointed if the Twins do nothing for the next 4 hours 51 minutes.

But I won't call for the drastic measures some are.Is it possible the trades the Twins were close to making didn't happen because the players asked for was just too much to be reasonable?Yes, that is possible.Unfortunately, none of us will ever know what really is said in these discussions.

My hope remains that they get at least someone comparable to Romo, preferably someone left handed. In an ideal world, I would hope they get a stud reliever. If nothing happens, on towards the play offs with the guys that got us here.
