Today, the Twins take on the Tigers, managed by Ron Gardenhire.

After the series sweep in Toronto, I thought I'd look into starting pitching numbers, specifically, wins.

Currently, the Twins are 23-12 with Twins starters having collected 20 of those 23 wins. Twins have decent starting pitching. Who'd a thunk it?

For some reason, it seems me it's sort of important that Twins starters are picking up the majority of the wins.

And, as we all know, numbers don't lie.

And now, for some things to think about:

1. Berrios
2. Odorizzi
3. Perez
4. Gibson

Pitching for the Twins:

Jake Odorizzi

Pitching for the Tigers:

Tyson Ross.

5. Play ball!

Disclaimer: While the author, and Twins Daily, know Tigers are an endangered species, we believe it is incumbent on the Twins to take care of these Tigers as ruthlessly as possible. These are not the warm and cuddly Tigers of nature shows, but, instead, are fierce rivals in the all important Central Division race.

Thank you and please dispose of your trash in the proper receptacle.

*why no, the above image in no way is a metaphor for the Detroit Tigers. Honest!

What, you're denying the actual video evidence?

What, you're denying the actual video evidence?

It was obviously doctored - I could see that a few of the pixels were out of place. Moreover, both of the actors purported to be Abbott and Costello had plenty of screen time, and yet "I'm not ASKING you who's on second" was never uttered once. Clearly a fake.

Just saw something weird... I was texting on my phone and I have that autocorrect function on that tries to finish your words for you. I was typing the word 'good' and when I was at 'Goo' the suggestions were A) good B: Goodell and C) Goodrum. I make my Twins Daily posts on my computer, so how does my iPhone know that I had one point talked about Niko Goodrum here? And it's been ages since then... just bizarre. It's not like I've had a texting conversation with someone about Goodrum, either!

FWIW, according to CBS Sports, Miguel Sano, Addison Reed, Willians Astudillo and Adalberto Mejia are all expected back by Monday.

I don’t believe that, but whatever. Doesn’t say much for their information.

Disappointing throw from Kepler after playing the ball well, off of the wall. It might have been tough to prevent the double, but a three-bouncer sealed it.

Buxton tracks hard hit balls extremely well. I was bothered by his catching his right ankle in the fence padding, but he untangled without drama this time. Every encounter with a fence remains an adventure. But, bottom line, he saved a run and not every CFer would have.

I'd think Astudillo would be back by then. The others? Not so much.

All of those balls were well-struck against Eggs Odorizzi. Bad sign?

Our BABIP is taking a dive, despite solid contact these first two batters.

For anybody who didn't get to see Buxton's leaping catch that ended up with him crammed Tetris-style into one of the padded cubicals in the left center wall, he's the guy in orange and brown underneath the girl in blue....

Detroit starter Tyson Ross is in his 10th season. He has amassed a grand total of 6.0 Wins Above Replacement. That looked weird. Since the Expansion Era started in 1961, he is #78 out of 748 in fewest WAR, for pitchers with at least 899 innings pitched (yesssss, I cherry-picked by using his lifetime total).

OK, so if I don't cherry-pick quite so obviously, and limit the search to 890-910 innings, if his career ended today he would be right in the middle group of 31 such players, at #15. Never mind.

I still think he's been lucky to keep a career going with such relative lack of success. But, among those who get this far, this is about what it looks like, I guess.

I love baseball-reference.com. So many times I wonder something, but now I sometimes stop and realize, hey, that could be looked up. This one didn't lead anywhere, but I still thought I'd share.

Bring back the powder blue of Rod Carew!

Hated it, back in the day.

But now when I see it, it reminds me of home. :)
