Stewart has allowed more flyballs than groundballs this year.

For their respective careers, Littell has a GO/AO ratio of 1.3. Stewart’s is 1.7.


Unless I'm reading that incorrectly, that means that Stewart gets more groundballs than Littell.

Yes. But not so much that a guy who is pitching better would be excluded for that reason.

I hope they aren't using the very small sample size of their last few starts to make the decision.

idk, it seems to me that to make one start would be exactly the time to consider the small sample size of recency.

I don't agree.
With 4 days off between starts, I don't really believe that running hot or cold is actually a thing for starting pitchers. Just variation amongst their capable range that sometimes in small sample sizes looks like a trend.

Last season we got a quick look at Littell, Gonsalves, and Stewart. Stewart was the most impressive.
