Giancarlo Stanton fit 9 games in between IL stints this season. He will not reach 124 games for the 6th time in his 10 year career.Should be averaging about 120 games per season or less if he returns sometime in August.

I wonder if he will reverse this injury trend or if his games per season will decline further when he starts his 30's in a few months.

Probably that football-score game has potential in our Fun With Numbers thread?

I can't think of anything better to expand the game globally than a 7 hour Yankees v. Red Sox game.

The Mets off-season has not lived up to the hype. At the halfway point, Wilson Ramos and JD Davis are the only adequate additions from the off season.

Jeurys Familia 7.50 ERA, 5.74 FIP (3 years/30M)

Edwin Diaz 5.50 ERA, 3.64 FIP (gave up 5 players, 2 top 10 prospects)

Robinson Cano .240/.287/.360

Keon Broxton .143/.208/.163 (traded 3 prospects and since lost Broxton on waivers)

Justin Wilson 4.22 ERA, 5.64 FIP (2 years/10M)

Jed Lowrie Has not played (2 years/20M)

Wilson Ramos .272/.349/.408 (2 years/19M)

Adeiny Hechavarria is the highlight of their minor league signings .229/.260/.427

JD Davis .279/.341/.468 (depth trade, gave 3 prospects and got 2)

...

Edwin Diaz 5.50 ERA, 3.64 FIP (gave up 5 players, 2 top 10 prospects)

Robinson Cano .240/.287/.360

Don't forget -- in the Cano trade, the Mets also salary dumped Jay Bruce and Anthony Swarzak.

Bruce now has a 123 OPS+ and 1.8 bWAR overall so far in 2019 (and has been even better since coming to the Mets division rival Phillies).

Swarzak now has a 2.61 ERA and 11 K/9 overall so far in 2019 (and has been even better since coming to the Mets division rival Braves!).

Although to be fair, Edwin Diaz was doing pretty well until recently -- he had a 1.64 ERA through May 28. Still, that trade has not worked out well for the Mets...

Diaz should be a fine addition but the cost of the prospects and having to pay and roster Cano for 5 years makes it likely that the trade never looks good for them.

Why not? It's a baseball skill. It's emphasized more over there, but it's a legitimate talent that currently is under-developed here. I don't want it as the highlight of the festivities - but as one of many events, I think it's fun.

That's the point of my post. The Arizona Fall League hitting competition requires hitters to hit balls to various places throughout the field. This as part of a larger competition like that, sure, but on its own, no thank you.

KC recalled former 2011 5th overall pick Bubba Starling, after 9 years of nondescript minor league play.

Just another data point in my never ending quest to get the Twins to trade every minor leaguer they get their hands on for actual big league talent.

If your purpose is to convince me to NEVER let go of ANY draft picks because eventually they WILL turn out, you have succeeded.

Putting up a robust .806 OPS in the PCL this year, with a whopping 20 XBHs, and won't turn 27 until August!!1!

Yes. Just think how good they could be if they weren't weighed down by having to carry the likes of Buxton, Polanco, Garver, Rosario, Kepler, and Berrios. Undefeated, most likely.
