It probably depends on how long he stays a catcher

He already has the most batting titles as a player at the catcher position and a good defensive catcher at that. One more batting title as a catcher would serve him well.

His fellow Cretin-Derham Hall Alum went to the Hall of Fame playing half of his career at DH and was an average 2B/3B the other half. I am not too sure many would argue against Paul Molitor's inclusion in the HOF.

Not to give Mauer too much credit, but he is 29 and has a ways to go in his career. A career of which, I think will make Twins' fans proud.

Location down was good, bit too much plate though.

What can you do? Cabrera's been hitting everything anyway.

Cabrera first Tiger to hit 40 doubles, 40 HRs since Hank Greenberg in 1940.

I've never seen a triple crown either

I love how Dickbert had a discussion about how the bullpen was "saved" despite rough circumstances.

Gee guys, you think maybe that shouldn't be a problem anyway.........IN ****ING SEPTEMBER WITH EXPANDED ****ING ROSTERS AND EXTRA ****ING RELIEVERS IN THE MINORS?

(too much?)

I hate that dirt path going to the pitcher's mound, it looks so tacky.

Is Bensie going to learn to bunt during the offseason?

Isn't that how most/many ballparks were laid out early in the game's history? Kind of a retro look?

Since most of the posters here have no collective memory of Kirby Puckett, let alone Rod Carew, here are pictures of Tiger Stadium, believe or not, there was a ballpark before Comerica.

No one is celebrating two wins on one day? The Twins looked decent today, and Walters gave up only one run in six innings.

Twins record:

AL Central: 34-35
NL 9-9

AL East: 10-18
AL West: 11-27

The Twins swept the fraud that is the Detroit Tigers today. Getting a doubleheader sweep in the AAAA/JV division of baseball merits a hearty golf clap, although admittedly, Diamond and Walters had good outings. The Tigers showed in vivid colors who they really are today- a destined-for failure, horrendously atrocious, infield defense that was further aided today in that effort by their OF. Furthermore, how do you construct a big-bucks- payroll-team to compete for a title with only 2 mediocre LHRP in the pen? And just one, very hittable, rookie Lefty starter?

Retro yes, but I think it still looks awful. Hated it on every baseball field I've ever seen.

I guess this dates me. I remember Rod Carew (saw him play many times) and went to a game at Tiger Stadium in the 80s. By then of course it did not look at all like the pictures here - the dirt path from the plate to the mound had been filled in with grass. I remember thinking how old and dilapidated the stadium looked. Haven't been to the new park yet.

Going to Comerica/Tiger Stadium would have involved me traveling to Detroit again. Why would I do that to myself?

I don't hate it but I don't like it much, either. It ruins the aesthetic of the diamond.
