It's been a fun year so far, GO Twins.

Tim Melville, who started a game for the Twins in 2017, was recently called up by the Rockies and is currently 1-0 with a 0.75 era in 12 innings

I thought it was strange that Jaylin Davis hadn't gotten a look yet in the Giants outfield, but it appears they are solid at the position for the moment. Their top 4 outfielders right now are Dickerson-Pillar-Yastrzemski-Slater with OPS+ figures of 181-97-120-139 on the season. (And PIllar at 97 has been on fire lately -- 1.082 OPS the past 28 days.)

I don't expect long-term greatness from any of those guys, though, so I'm sure Davis will get a look sooner or later.

Interestingly, Jaylin has been getting some run at and prefers to play center field. Being even below average but functional at center would make him even more valuable. He's only 25...

I was just wondin' how the talent we traded away was doin'.

Thanks for bringing up Jaylin.

Diaz is on Miami's AA team, not hitting quite as much (closer to 200 BA than 300) but with more true outcomes.

Diaz's K rate is up slightly, but the biggest change so far is BABIP -- only .197 since the trade, compared to .320 before it.

Kurt Suzuki hit a walk off 3 run HR in the bottom of the 9th last night that capped a 6 run inning and pretty much ended the Mets chances of reaching the playoffs.

Suzuki has had a very good season with the Nats and was pretty good when he was with the Braves.

Kaat mentioned this during the Twins' broadcast last night--original Twin Hal Naragon passed away at age 90. Not many left from the inaugural 1961 team.

Our old buddy Robbie Grossman just hit a go ahead 3-run triple off of Meija in the 7th.

After a 7 for 77 (.091) start to the season and being sent down to the minors, the White Sox recalled Daniel Palka and he responded with 2 homers yesterday ... and against Cleveland. Thank you! His batting average now a robust .113.

Prince will probably be interviewed for managerial vacancies and could get one. He’s going to be a good “pitchers” manager. I still remember years ago, Lohse was on the mound, maybe as a rookie. He wasn’t getting lit up really, but he wasn’t pitching well. Prince was in his face between innings for several minutes (as seen on camera). I don’t know what he said, but as I recall Lohse pitched 5 more innings and allowed like 1 or 2 baserunners.

If he could handle Lohse, he's got some qualifications.

I’m pretty sure this is the Lohse-Prince game I mentioned:

https://www.baseball...200108180.shtml

Through 2 innings, Lohse allowed 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks throwing like 60 pitches. After that (and Prince) nada for 4 more innings.

It's different seeing Brian Dozier at this point in his career.

In the WC game 2017 he went 2-4 with a leadoff HR in top 1. Since then, he's gone 2-20 in 14 playoff games since. Only starting 4 of those games.

Just in case if you need a new book to read in the off-season!
