In my opinion, that makes no sense. That somehow Kluber or Carrasco might be traded. They still have fairly friendly deals in my estimation, and for the most part aren't in line for any big salary increases (though Klubers goes up 6+ mil in 2019 -- and he's worth every penny).

My guess: saying Kluber or Carrasco are on the trading block is Cleveland's (cheap?) way of fishing for phone calls for the other guys.

Not sure I agree. I think the economy has been slow to recover in Cleveland, and their revenue probably can't support the projected $135 million payroll.

I’m sure it will be a coincidence that the speech about morality given from the high horse will happen after they find a trade partner.

Those things take awhile to proofread after all.

Yeah, I’ll take Machado’s immaturity over that.

Absolutely. Some things never change though. From that blurb Theo said someone has to take a stand against players who abuse women. Yet here we are, a month later and he's back peddling. All because Russell has some talent.

Fangraphs has its top 50 FA list up, and also a free agent tracker.

As for the Cubs......I remain disappointed in how talent and money are more important to many in this country than other, more important, things.

I remain hopeful on Buxton and Sano.....but I'd not bet the franchise on them.

I don't think it's just this country. Seems to me professional soccer players get into all kinds of trouble as well and their behavior is overlooked if not sometimes celebrated.

But what team isn’t going to be ‘in’ on those two? Of course everyone’s ‘in’ and no one is going to confirm otherwise.

That's what Marlins ownership gets for their recent fire sale... Question is, do they care?

I think the key word is "both".
No, not every team is in on both. Most teams don't have the resources to go after both, whether they choose to confirm or not doesn't change that.

I think one could get Encarnacion not cheaply, but more reasonably when compared to the haul they would want for Kluber or Carrasco (I imagine). Encarnacion still drove in 107 runs but his BA tailed off dramatically, he struck out the same number of times he had the previous year but played in 20 fewer games and his BBs dropped off a cliff 63 compared to 104 in 2017. Consequently, his OBP dropped .41 points and his slugging also dropped .30. I know Indian fans were not feeling that great about his performance, especially in the first part of the year.

Sure. I know. But when answering a direct question from a reporter, what GM is going to say no? No GM is going to answer that question even if it might be obvious that they will, could or won’t be in on it. That’s more what I meant by that rhetorical question, that at this stage of the game, they aren’t going to publicize their plan too much. I just can’t take tweets too seriously.

I actually think we’ll see movement on pitchers before we see movement on either Harper or Machado, but I could be wrong. I’m a horrible prognosticator.

Houston losing a starter to TJ.....I wonder if they will now re-sign one of their FA pitchers?

I'm guessing they keep Morton.

Harper rejected a huge contract at the end of the year from the Nats, so he is going elsewhere more than likely.

Meanwhile, C.C. re-upped with the yanks. Kind of hard to not to route for him, if you're a yankee fan or not.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

The 1950 A's? That was the year both their owner AND manager promptly died. Surely it was due to the shock of the attendance collapse.

Send a prayer to Derek Jeter and Don Mattingly folks.
