Reddit wins again.

I knew watching the Wolves at the end of the game was brutal, but I didn't realize he had been this bad.

Heh...

I had to take a 3-minute break from not caring about the Wolves this season to enjoy that chuckle!

One more time. Say it with me: Thibs is trying to get fired.

Good trade though, all in all, IMO.

What I think we ultimately learned from all of this is that 1) Jimmy’s a total jerk, which I like but whatever, and 2) KAT is soft AF. If the Jimmy thing was truly wearing on him in games, man...suck it up and take it out on the floor. Earn it. Better grab hold of your emotions, because winning at a meaningful level is going to require you to block out the haters and aggressors and start stepping on some throats to pull out a win. I don’t want to see any more (for lack of a better term, I apologize) b****face out of that guy. You have your team now. It’s yours to lead. You can win, or you can not.

I think there is more to it (KAT sucking) than suck it up and play. KAT is shooting 48% - 42% - 91%. The problem is that the offense had offensive black holes everywhere and not running anything to use KAT.

Talent wise the Wolves lose this trade big time but overall they got 2 pieces that fit really well in a 3 and D big wing that can handle the slew of great wings in the league and a 3 pt shooting big.

Best part of the deal is that Covington and Saric shoot 10+ 3's/game combined.

Is 2016 2017 2018 the year that a good pitching prospect is truly blocked by 5 good pitchers in the starting rotation?

So you see Taj continuing to start and Saric on the bench?

I see Saric playing the Bjellica role at first, where Taj is the starter but Saric sees just as many minutes.

All very good points.

However, I was really just referring to his on court demeanor. I haven’t watched a ton of Wolves games this season, but that dude is always whining about something. Maybe I’m wrong.

Well that made me think "Ruh Roh".....

If you think you've run out of reasons to hate Tom Thibideau...go look at what Belly has been up to.

Don’t remember whose take it was that I read, but it rang true tonight: Covington is pretty much Jimmy Lite. He can be super effective with his defense, iq, and occasional scoring without needing to have the ball in his hands. Looked good. Also, with the 2 players for 1 trade, I dare say it appears the wolves might actually have some depth. Good for them!

I think the Jimmy Lite comparison doesn't really work aside from defense. He doesn't need the ball on offense whereas Butler needed the ball.

This trade basically boils down to the Wolves getting two players that are exactly the roles that they needed. Floor spacers that don't need the ball in their hands because they already have plenty of guys that need the ball. This team will be better w/o Jimmy (great player) and compete for a playoff spot imo. Tough conference though.

the ringer has a lot of analysis of this trade, plus an article on the last game and what it MIGHT mean, or not....

I remain hopeful on Buxton and Sano.....but I'd not bet the franchise on them.

I believe it was based on my comment where Covington handles the defensive aspects of the hole Butler leaving creates but it's going to fall to Wiggins to handle the ball-in-hands offensive responsibilities. But I think more reasonably Covington is an elite defensive piece, and love it or hate it Thibs is always going to be a tough-minded defensive coach. You hope you can get back to the playoffs based on that. And if not, well, it's not a bad year to be in the lottery. Right now, the guy who's going to be in the 8-10 range looks like a 4/5 overall pick most years.

Looking good again tonight.

Amazing what can happen for team play when one guy is jettisoned....

So Tony Allen (or any good defender) is Jimmy Butler lite?

I think Covington is exactly the right piece that the Wolves needed. I really like Saric (and always like Bjelica) but I am not as sure about his fit since Covington is the only average or better defender on the floor aside from Gibson (who Saric replaces) most of the time.
