Good for baseball.I hope this is the beginning of a true embrace of this mentality.

And Griffey is the perfect spokesman for it.Love it.

A good, lengthy read about Javier Baez not playing by unwritten rules.

I root against the Cubs these days, but Baez is pretty cool. Those swipe tags are great.

Also on the Cubs, I love their catcher Willson Contreras throwing behind runners, and former KC Royal Terrance Gore as a pinch runner for the Cubs was fun to watch too.

With the Cubs eliminated, hopefully some other players emerge to provide similar entertainment value this postseason. Otherwise, strikeout-heavy baseball can be pretty brutal for spectators without a strong rooting interest.

Nice ad. MLB is trying to get young fans involved in the game by letting the players be themselves. That's good. Players should display emotion. When I think of how bland this season was for the Twins, part of that blandness is that, with a few exceptions (Astudilo in Sept and Rosario before the injuries), no Twin was really showing emotion. They were a boring group and I think the fans sensed that.

The league embracing it is great, but now they need to step up their suspensions/punishments for players who retaliate for these things. The league has never been the main opponent for players showing emotion - the players self-policing is the enemy of this kind of play.

Time to start handing out truly punitive suspensions to players who do that. Or this ad means nothing ultimately.

I approve of this message. Flip those bats, celebrate strikeouts
