Typical Beslisle, geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sox announcers said that was intentional. Not sure I believe it, but a ball gives no possibility of a foul tip to the face mask.

Think he meant giving up the double.

Oh, well, he’s done now, too.

Belisle just wanted to finish his career on a familiar note

Sigh. That was the saddest ending to a disappointing season.

Last PA of his career, an opposite field double. Then he dons the tools of ignorance one last pitch.

And the Twins win!

Incoming 2 months of "should Joe Mauer make the HOF" articles before the trade rumors start heating up.

Don't think he could've asked for a better last game. Gets a double, comes out behind the plate, gets a win. Even as someone who thinks it is good that Mauer is retiring, still is an emotional day for Twins fans, as many Twins fans probably don't remember a Twins team without Joe Mauer.

Not that it mattered or would have ruined Joe's day, but I am glad they finished off Joe's career with a victory (and a pretty good final homestand, even if it was against sub-par teams).

That was a way better way to retire than those ridiculous “tours” that Jeter and others did. And so much more Joe, too. Well played, Mauer.

Congratulations on a great career, Joe.

Still saying he hasn't decided whether he will retire or not.

But with all that happened today, he's almost certainly retiring, and if he isn't, it's certainly his last game as a Twin.

Sox announcers made Joe the player of the game in their post-game wrap.

I cannot imagine any scenario where he plays another game for a different team. I just don't see it happening. A team that has a chance to get him a pennant isn't going to sign him, and why would he want to play 1 more year with a different team that isn't a strong World Series contender?

Would have been interesting if Hawk had called this game.
