Guess this clears a 25-man spot for Kohl Stewart too.

And here I thought we had worked out a trade.

We’ll, it’s kind of like a trade. He’s gone, Austin is up. Yes?

Maybe we did... a roster spot for a pound of flesh?

Hip surgery:

Odd

Morrison started last night

Austin was called up before that

Austin became the third 1B/DH guy on the roster at the time of his call up.

It's like they knew.:)

Wow, that’s quite the news with everything going on over the last couple weeks. Pure speculation, wondering if he was trying to convince Twins that he could play thru it and they said no, let’s shut it down and have the surgery.

Morrison was a huge disappointment for the team. The question is, was it because of injury or is the injury a convenient excuse? This is all complicated by his expiring contract. The Twins will not pick up his option, I'm sure.

Glad this opens up more consistent time for Austin.

Players often resemble yo-yo's from season to season. Just when you think a guy is toast... he goes nuts the following year.

Injuries could explain it but it sure happens a lot.

That might be why I love Baseball.

Twins are taking away Santana's pieces.

Or, Morrison's pieces.

The pieces are gone.

Wishing him the best. Not fun trying to swing with a bad hip.It seems that it was bothering him the whole season.

Random.  Seems like there should be more to this story.  Did they offer him a choice? "I don't care if your hips are fine.  Its either that or get DFA'd."  Maybe hip surgery is some sort of euphemism?  Like, he wasn't cool enough?  So he needs surgery on his 'hipness?'

Health wise, I wish LoMo the best.

Baseball wise, I never saw the attraction. He did hit a bunch of home runs last year, but his history showed it was a anomaly. He never has carried a good BA.

His defense was average.

Wish him the best and good health, however, I'm glad he won't be playing anymore this season.

If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.

Well that news came out of the blue.

For all body language/lie-detecting sleuths out there in need of some good entertainment, watch Molitor's post-game "explanation" for Morrison's de-activation. The reaction shots of the scribes present there must have been priceless.

Joyous, fact-based and tireless Twins fan for 40+ years, who unfortunately has been characterized as-

"forcing Twins fans to endure more bitter, baseless, and tiresome cheap shots about the Twins FO."

it could have been diagnosed a month ago, the sort of thing like “you need hip surgery, but you can still play on it until the season is over” type of thing, until LoMo cried uncle earlier this week.
