I haven't heard anything. Is he close to coming back? Is he going to go on a rehab assignment first?

I was just going to post this same question. They need him, despite what his detractors say.

One of the best opening day rosters in years. Now go get 'em.

A bad hamstring tear can take a couple of weeks to recover from - I just wish we had some better news on that as the lineup could use him.Escobar and Rosario's hot streakslook like they are ending. How about Molitor's comment"I don't know how you would judge the level of effort he's giving on some of the running he's doing, but to me, it's not very close to 100 percent."Not sure what he meant but it sounds like he isn't running very fast out there.

Molitor doesn't sound happy, but context is important here, especially for the underlined part above.

Can't tell if Molitor means Sano isn't trying 100%, or if he is not able to run 100%.Big difference.

Agreed. This potentially defends those of us that suggested Sano has a reputation for giving less than a full effort.

But I agree that depending on the context, it might mean Molly believes he can't give a full effort.

Based on reports, it sounds like he could go on a rehab assignment by this weekend.

Then the question is how long that rehab assignment is. Personally I would prefer a good-sized assignment so he can get his swing fixed.

With Buxton, you're OK with having him start right away because he has strong defensive value. But a Sano not hitting is not valuable at all. But a well hitting Sano would look awfully good in the middle of that lineup.

Until he can play defense that means he's replacing Mauer or Morrison in the lineup instead of Adrianza, mitigating some of the upside there. Maybe they're taking extra time getting him fully healthy?

Almost an even bet here.......

Which one will play more games at his number one position this year?

Now there’s an interesting question to ponder. If Castro is out a couple months, he’ll probably end up catching about 80-85 games. Will Sano play 85 at 3b this year? Before you answer, you should know that he did NOT last year...

I am afraid that Sano and, to a lesser extent, Buxton are not very durable and will probably have their careers cut short. Sano simply carries too much weight for the speed he is able to play with and his "infrastructure" pays the price.Don't forget he has also had Tommy John surgery. At his age and not being a pitcher very unusual.

Buxton's headaches and recklessness are not a not a good combination either. He has also yet to demonstrate reliability at the plate. Key word for both remains "potential".

Garver and Wilson are fine at catcher. Don't need Castro. Twins were framed.
